  1. yeh I thought of that and they even have at Wally World but it is gloss rather than flat. DuraCoat has a zillion colors and one called OSHA Blue that looks about right. Might try that.
  2. I am shooting a 5.25 and did a modification with CR Speed Versa pouches and some Tec Lock clips. Got the double set but did not like the loop on it - too rigid, too big and not someting that would work well with 6 pouches. Took off the loop and looked at how to merge bracket that has pouches to Teck Loc. One hole matched up but the other didn't. So pull out the drill, drill, match it up and we are connected. Only other thing was a couple nuts and bolts and some washers for the spacers. Works very well now through four matches.
  3. Gun is xdm 5.25 holster Bladetech color blue about the same blue as versa pouch which I have now. Thanks this all is helpful.
  4. Any good way to color BT holster witout having to touch it up after every match. Wish someone would just make one in the color I want - since they do the mags but no luck. Anyone out there with experience in this arena? Lots that do metal but no plastic. Another suggested Krylon that they put on chairs but that only seems to come in gloss. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  5. I had the reverse problem, the slide locking back too soon. I had my first big match with the 5.25 from Cannyon Creek - three of the four stages it one time each locked back about three or four shots into the stage. Racked it and on with the show no problem. Otherwise the gun shot well and great accuracy. Another match this weekend and see what happens this time. Gonna watch my hand on the slide lock to see it it is my bumping it up but otherwise great gun. Any thoughts on what else may be happening??
  6. I have been using the spacer that is on the pouch along with a washer and it works very well. I did another tweek on it with taking off the belt loop and putting a TechLok backing for two at a time. that has also worked out very well, much better than the BladeTech ones I had before. Wish there had been some help on this when I got it but thank God for very helpful shooters that are more than willing to help in whatever way they can (sort of like on here huh??)
  7. Make sure you tell us what happened once you find out. I shoot the same gun and thus far 1000 rounds without hiccup. You were smart sending it to Scott. If anyone can figure it out he can. Him or Rich orDaniel.
  8. Maybe good idea to get one before they get banned. Say can the stiights be changed on this gun?
  9. That is the trouble with having good equipment - if you suck it is you and not your equipment - almost worth going out and getting a HiPoint for production rather than my 4P CC 5.25. Heck are they even legal for production?? Just checked - guess not. Renews my faith in NROI.
  10. I did my first couple of years with total Blade Tech - DOH plus pouches. Then a guy I shoot with recommended the CR Speed Versa and I got three of the double. Didn't like the belt loop on there so modded out the pouch and bracket to work with TechLoc from my BladeTech stuff and works real slick. I havn't had any big matches to try with yet but in dry fire exercises workes real well. My belt is also a hybrid - Double AA outer and CR inner. The AA is stiffer for outer but week on the inner and visa versa for CR. Sort of strange but workes for me.
  11. This is another case where size is what counts most. Heck, lift weights if it is too heavy, but it sure is able to be hidden.
  12. With xd 5"tactical WWB 115 had 135 PF at area 3 last year.
  13. That's the spirit - and probably more the truth than most of us would like to admit
  14. I have now put the two together and have a few thoughts - my tactical has gone through two plus seasons of USPSA, performed well and given me reliability. The sigts are fiber front and warren back - works well and fairly accurate. Also have guide rod (titanium) that helps with recoil and flip. Overall good gun. The 5.25 is from CC with their 4 P package, great trigger and reliable. Have only used at match one time, have about 500 rounds through and find (at least for me) better balance, faster recovery and a bit better accuracy. Both have good to great triggers, the Tactical from SA and the CC from of course the labs of Rich.....my other XDM has the stock trigger and better sights and is a distant third from the other two - the trigger and internal work is what makes the difference. I have about $1,000 into the tactical and $1250 with the XDM which with the three free mags is a wash on cost. Will tell more as I know more but for now really like the new gun and feel it is a tad better than the xd
  15. Stay tuned and in a week or so will be able to tell you. Have done many matches with tactical that has Springfield Armory trigger, sights etc. I now have Canyon Creek 4 P model that I thus far have 200 rounds through but no match time. Nothing big until March but small stuff inside range that is pseudo IPSIC - will at least give an idea. Range shooting thus far seems more responsive and maybe (too early to tell) more responsive. I like the tactical but this might be even better. Like I say time and a lot more rounds will tell. Would also be interested in anyone else with the same transition.
  16. Although your regular glasses will work for the most part, every once in a while the wrap around part keeps junk away from my eye. I have Rx now but before that a pair of yellow safety glasses from Wally World over my regular worked fine. While you can get clear, the yellow really helps out in low light or cloudy situations.
  17. Just to name a couple - I don't see eye protection on your list - can go cheep (basic safety glasses) or expensive (Rx Rudy project shades)but you sure need them. If you doubt that read the story about the RO with the AD in this months Front Sight magazine. Secondly you might want to get a small tool kit. I have an allen wrench that folds into a handle that I got at Home Depot and a real good screw driver set of the same type I got at Target. Guns vibrate and belts and pouches and holsters get loose. Need to have those things. As for the cleaning kit, I carry a bore snake and a cleaning rag in my bag but that is it. The heavy cleaning will happen once you get home. Others may talk about spare parts, extra guns etc but this is a start and I am sure many others will add to it. Good luck, have fun and welcome to some really fun times.
  18. I did something much the same. Shot last target, hit mag release as I noticed a steel I had missed.... Mag back in and hit target, but mind was still on ejected mag, same thing and a new ole in the shooting wall and yes this was a match. Real easy to have brain fart but. Would be worse if we didn't learn from it. Hopefully this will be good for both of us and thank you for the added insight on the situation.
  19. I look at that DQ thing and tell people go ahead and feel bad, mad and sad for about five minutes then get it together and go back to your squad and help. There was a guy on my squad at Area Three this year that had driven 400+ miles and DQ'd on I think it was target seven of the first stage of the first day. I know he was crushed but he stuck around, helped in any way he could and above all showed class and integrity all the way. That is the mark of a champion. There were a lot of good shooters at this event, but this man impressed me the most of any.
  20. I love their guns but sometime in other areas I shake my head - Glock has blue label(significant off) for LE and military Springie no deal, they won't let their customers use the XD logo on things like Techware shirts, no willingness to work with their customers on a deal like this - but like I say, love their guns - swallow hard and continue shooting. Maybe next stop, 5.25.
  21. Yes, 10 in the mags and 11 to start with (provided nothing against that in the WSB) Seems like a waste of a a high cap mag. But to Each his own. That is so people from Kalifornia can have fun too - or perhaps party of the Kalifornia empathy program so the rest of us can experience at a match what they have every day. I like shooting production because of the strategy you have to develop with just the 10 rounds, different size arrays and the like. Tried limited but missed that part of the event.
  22. Wipe your thumb and forefinger and hammer real well, go slow and make sure ro is aware. Also, practice before doing the match many times. Find out what works best for you. Have fun with your shadow it is a great gun.
