  1. I Knew I was Forgeting Somethings... a Cooper Tunnel will be In the Next Attachment and What the Heck is a Kansas City plate? Yes I have to Figure Out how to Put this in a VERY LARGE Bay. Probably set it up at an Angle in the Bay to Avoid All the 180 Problems. Going to move The Targets in the Hall to Avoid the 180 of Course Your Ammo After shooting Thru the Barrel would Need to Be On the Barrels down Range ( the Pink Lines are Mags) the Port at the End is Prone! Several Procedures . Got to Use all your SKILLS.(or Some You Don't Have Yet) The Stage Would Be I bit different in real Life. As Far as the Design Program, I Have Built Most of the Prop Designs in other Programs like Photo Shop or Claris Works and Web Painter. then imported it all in Adobe Pagemaker (about a $750.00 program) It has taken me 5 year to Build it all. I like the 30 Degree angle from Overhead you get a better feel for How Far away the Targets are. I do Big Match Stage Design for the Match Books is how this came about. Done the Double Tap Championship and the Texas State Limited and Willing to Do others also. Keep posting your Ideas! I am "GAME"
  2. Or How about the Stage I just posted in this fourm THE ULITAMATE SATGE FOR IPSC Check it out I was Trying to use EVERY skill, prop and position i could think of.
  3. Clay There Is a Range Up Around Wichita Falls also that shoots about wice a month that has a lot of Folks Coming from the Metroplex Area. web Page www.doubletapranch.com
  4. I was playing with some stage designs (as I usally do at work while I am between jobs ahve over 200 designed) and an Idea came to me "What would be the Ulitmate Stage for IPSC" It have to be something that uses EVERY Skill,Prop and position I have run into in the Last 6 years shooting. atached Below is what I have come up with SO FAR. But I know I have missed something, so here it is on BE to Let you guys have a word and a hand at THE ULITAMTE STAGE FOR IPSC (Actually to be Legal it have to be several Stages) its just for Fun, Give Me your Ideas and where to put them in this stage. Looking forward to your comments Robert Ultimate_Stage.pdf
  5. Will Be there.. on Squad 21 with David L, First time to shoot it as a competitor in 6 Years, Not ROing
  6. Sometimes the word "HIT FACTOR" is Confusing the Hit factor is simply how many "POINTS PER SECOND" you shot (hits divide by Time) I wish they would change the term. All the Big Boys (GM-M) try to shoot about 90% of the Available points on a stage.
  7. Hello All Carnina e-mailed Me and Made Me aware of this Tread. First thanks for Including the Double Tap Ranch In the Poll. We have the Range, The Time of Year and the Amount of Help Would Be the Key points Here. I have been told that the clark range rents to area 4 around the neighborhood of $3000.00 for the week. (set up and Match). We Have already Scheduled the Double Tap Championship for 2006 on the last weekend of March March 25-26 and Maybe an all twelve stages in one day format for friday the 24th for a limited amount of Folks. Are we talking about a match this Year (2005) or Next Year (2006) this year we are hosting the North Texas section Championship with 8-10 stages fourth Weekend of August 2005. Next year is open except Dec 05-March 06 and end of Sept for the Texas state Limited. Also Need to schedule around all the other matches going on around the country AREA Matches, Nationals and such. THe Other Concern is Who will be the MD and the set up crew RO's and such. As far as money goes the most fair way to all parties is a per head Fee. Lots of Details still need to be nailed down to give the range folks more of an idea what is going on. Talked to the "Ranch Hands" The Double Tap Ranch is Tenatively intrested, but we need more INFO. Thanks Robert Porter
  8. THANK YOU 300lb gorilla I down loaded the windows media player for mac and it works great Good Videos Sherd, THanks Again
  9. Wow I saw the Trailer on the web page I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the DVD Thanks for doing it. Also Chet is going to do one of his professionaly done dvd's (no Slight to you steve) for the Double Tap CHampionship and we will have a link on our web page and maybe a trailer when he gets his done so folks can buy them. He has done one for area 4 last year and the Texas state Limited last year real nice box and everything.
  10. We don't Mess Around at the DT ranch. Got right on it, Wanted you to have the Trophy while the Glow was still on the candle sort of speak. Look for the North Texas Section Championship here at the Double Tap Ranch in late August 8-10 stages we are cooking up some intresting stuff for this one also. We will post the stages probaly around mid July on the Double Tap Web page. Hey Stuart Do you mind if we use a few of those great Photos in the article we are working up for front sight of course we will give you Full Billing for them they are FANTASTIC! One Last thing... Sherd Is There any way you can upload those videos in a different format besides .WMV, i think that is the only one I can't Read on my Computer (mac) Thanks Robert
  11. WOW! I Knew you told me some of this at the recepition, but WOW! and I though it was bad having the extra Porta Pottis Show up 4 hours late after about 12 calls of "Where the hell are You" on friday. Can't even compare. But she still finished 34th out of 89 limited shooters and high lady Limited My hats off to you Carina.
  12. One of the Major things I have found out is DO NOT watch any one in a class below yours, or the guy up just before you. the worst thing that can happen to me is i am watching the guy in front of me and he screws the pooch on the stage, your sub con. tends to remember that and wants to run it the EXCATE same way. Remeber the Super Squad all have sponsors and they all want to keep them so there might me a little we all need to finish well at the match. Sponsors don't pay for losers.
  13. Yes, we probaly would have. Then moved you to the side and replaced the barrel with another just to show what not to Do
  14. We had a lady (Joanne McGee) helping in stats and taking pictures at the match. look for photos on the double Tap Ranch web sight in the near futurealso. GREAT PHOTOS HERE! Robert
  15. The score are posted as of 9 pm Monday Night, Sorry for the Delay my poor old 95 truck got me to the range the last day of the match and then just layed down on me and died. Really, the transmission is shot. (Pun intened) Any way, all the directors,RO's and staff spent some time with me after the match to make comments and suggestions on what to improve. We covered all of the comments on this fourm page and a few not on the page. (what a great staff to work with, My hats off to them) The PA was planned but like the truck, the rental gave up at the last minute and all the others where rented at all the other rental spots. So I talked as loud as possiable. Next year we will just buy one. About the 180 There was no target on the one 180 at the start UNLESS you moved about three feet before you drew and started shooting that particular traget after engaging the other avaiable targets. ( And that would be the slow way to shoot the stage) It is up to the shooter to engage in the "right" "safe" order. We will not have targets as close to the 180 next year, you can be asurred. BTW: I heard a comment on range about a timer picking up shots, So I got two timers and stood around in the bay to see if they would pick up shots and the answer is NO... unless the timer is pointed at the front of the bay. I held both timer directly at the side berms from the middle of the bay while a few open divison shooters shot in the next bay and NOTHING. ¥ou had to be pretty close to the front of the bay and had to have the face of the timer pointed directly to the front of the bay, Other wise I got nothing on either timer. Also we are going to fine tune the Prize distriubution part of the match to try to make it a lot faster. Part of the slow down was alot of folks never have done a "bucket raffle" was not sure what to do. And we never have done one either, so we were a little unorganizned, Next year we are looking at half the time. We are also going to be using two computers and two stats input folks to try to make that part of the match speed up also. Are Goal is to be done and off range on Sunday by 2:00pm. Thank you all for the Great Comments at the Match and here in this fourm and look forward to shooting some of the match in the area with you. We look forward to next years match the same time and as I told Max Michel Jr. you think these stages were "fun" wait till next year. We held back this year. Once Again.... THANK YOU Robert Porter Match Director Double Tap Championship
  16. I've gotten a couple of Phone calls from folks see the match dates in the front sight are different. The Major Match Schedule in the Front Sight is WRONG! I figured they changed it after five phone calls, But guess not. The Double Tap CHampionship is THIS WEEKEND March 19& 20th. Thanks We will see you then Robert Porter Spectators are welcome As mentioned Eye and Ear Protection manadtory on range as well as stopping by the stat Shack and Signing a release. RO Scores won't be posted till others are posted.
  17. WE HAVE RE-NUMBERED THE STAGES ON OUR WEB PAGE, SO THEY ARE NOW IN ORDER WITH THE RANGE LAYOUT (with the odds on the west side and evens on the east side)
  18. Stages are set on range at this time, They are slightly different than on our web page. Here is the differences on stage 10 we used swingers instead of the drop out targets. Could not make the drop outs work reliabliy. Stage 12 will not have any poppers in it and we cut the hard cover swingers down to two. The other swingers would not fit in that bay. This ought to make a lot of folks happy, we took out the hard cover on the handcuff stage. Other than that, all the stages are the same.
  19. Question came up about food on the range? We will have a concession area. BBQ Sandwiches, Chicken Salad Sandwiches, Hot Dogs, Soft Drinks, bottled water, Chip and Cookies. Combo meal 1 BBQ Sandwich, chips, soft drink and cookies for $4.00, 2 BBQ sandwiches and all for $5.00. Same for Chicken Salad, Hot Dogs at a reduced price Going to be good BBQ. local boys whipping it up.
  20. The Stages are pretty much in order we planned on the web. Of course we are still putting stages together so things might change ( If the layout doesn't fit well in that bay we might move it) So I really can't tell you if they exactly in that order. Guess you are trying to figure out what you will shoot and in what order on what day. The list of who is on what squad is on our web page in PDF format. We had to change the List a little to accomodate a forigen Shooter. So the Updated list is posted as of 3-04. They are set, So unless a extreme problem comes up these are the squads.
  21. Should be, but you always have a few folks that don't show for some reason and some cancellations. I got one cancellation today and one yesterday so we have two spots open. This is where the wait list comes into play.
  22. The Double Tap Championship is full as of Feb. 22nd 2005. Thanks for all that has signed up. We will entertain a waiting list, if you wish to be on it, Please drop us an e-mail. Any entries received after Feb 22, date ( already in the Mail) will be notified and/or put on the waiting list or returned. Priority by postmark on envelopes and same dates postmarks by random drawing. If you have not recived a confirmation by e-mail, Your Address probaly bounced please e-mail us for a confirmation. Thanks once again look forward to seeing you all at the Match. Robert Porter
  23. I belive Artie and Jimmie will be there with some bullets. They make a great hard cast bullet in all the popular sizes. go to their web site at www.bulletworks.com and check out the on line info and photos. I have been using them for about 3 years and i just love them. faster than jacketed with a lot less powder which equals less muzzle flip and less recoil. All of our sponsors have been invited to set up under the new 32' by 32' awaning we just built. and i know several plan on coming. B.T.W. If your entry does not have a post mark for today the 19th It's a late entry. (I know on the app. it says the 20th but that is a sunday and the post office isn't open.) we only have about 18 slots left, unless you are willing to work as an RO. we could still use some help in that area. (I am pretty sure the slots will fill when the mail runs on monday and tuesday, We will post here when we are full and have a waiting list)
  24. I am Shocked, very upset, Steve had just e-mailed me on the 13th about our upcoming match and his plans for a new range in tulsa, here is what he wrote "This range will be the best, period. I finally get to focus and carry out my goals for competition shooting as a result of this project and our funding." I am so sad. I can harldy type these words. Steve had given a class at our range and I can not put into words how helpful, caring and knowlegeable Steve was. I can not belive this has happened. He was so excited about his range and Our upcoming match. We will be dedicating this match to him. Gods Speed Steve! Robert Porter
