  1. OK, very good BE. never though about using the visluazition to help with the new techniques come along quicker and i'll try that this week and at a major match that iam going to this weekened. I dry fire quite a bit but I have a fundemental problem that is driving me crazy. I dry fire at home in our spare bedroom. Mostly I work on my draw since "friends" have told be I have a "very deliberate draw" read-slow (1.8-1.7-AUGH! and I am A limited) I start out slow and work down to around 1 sec making sure I have a good sight picture and do everthing correct. I am like clock work at the house. I go to the range and try to dry fire some before shooting and I can't hit one draw correct or fast, and is worst when the gun is loaded. I start out slow work down and still can't draw at the range, when I am thinking about it. practice at the range is furstating. Might be my past training catching up with me... in the last 6 years, I have shot, all my practice was at club matches. Any suggestions? One Other question is are you "THINKING/ ANALIZING" when you practice or do you just go out and just shoot some to get the "feel for it"?
  2. Well BE. Iam not sure what it means to me. I have read your Book now five time from cover to cover and find something "new" in it ever time. I know you say there is to much going on to Focus on one thing. and Lanny says to think about postive so no negative thoughts can accure When I am relaxed and have a good run Iam not thinking really about anything. but lately I have been practicing and have learned that my stance was poor and could be improved by more bend in my knees and keeping my back straight and my arms need to be a little more straight and my index more aligned with my shoulders, so now I screwed up my whole shooting, thinking about one or all of those things when I shoot and can't seem to just turn it off and just SHOOT! so what are you getting at SHould I just say to myself relax... Relax or see the sight....see the sight and concentrate on that? or nothing at all? Its kinda of like when you can't go to sleep and the more you TRY to go to sleep the more awake you are or the less chance you have of going to sleep.
  3. it should count as a classifier, since stage 7 "paper poppers" is a classifier I not sure about powder vendors but I hear that Dawson is coming up and Brazos is setting up also. not sure who else will be there since the SC is taking care of all that and the prizes and such.
  4. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So What is "the Trick" to turning off your mind on demand?
  5. What do you mean by rolling your hips? just bending a leg and transfering your weight from one side to the other?
  6. Talked to Mike Clark the North Texas Section SC yesterday and we have already 72+ folks signed up for this one day match. If you are intrested, the stages are posted on our web sight at www.doubletapranch.com along with an application we are only taking about 100 or so folks and the match is filling fast.
  7. j. Help set up the local matches THis should be a goal of all that shoot... Good One Genghis! Mine to stop thinking about everythng and Just shoot!
  8. I like Coffee in the Morning to get me going about 3 cups. Like said above lots of other things to worry about in a match other than Caffine. It never seems to play a role in any match i have been to. Just did the Calculations on the above link it takes about 115 cups to kill me
  9. Thanks Guys I figured L2S were GM times, Flex, That is a Good Run for A Class on prez in theses parts-Smokin Thanks again. Now I know What to Look for When I practice this. If I ever Practice.
  10. Broke My Crank on my 550 about four months ago, Dillion Sent me a new one after calling FREE did not even want the old one or a picture or anything. I seat the bullets with the handle till it stops solid and the same with the primers, don't want any high primers. Crank broke after about 15,000-20,000 rounds. Suffered with a "PRO" 1000 for a whille, Then Bought a Load Master and the SUFFFERING really Started. P.O.S. Then got wise bought a dillion 550 and been smiling ever since.
  11. THe dairy queen is under NEW management (imagine that) since you got that deliteful meal there last year. I've ate there a couple of times (real looked my food over every time) while working to the range, no moldy bread yet. I still can't belive they just put ketsup on it and gave it back to you, like you would not notice al that green. That was the worst fast food pic I have EVER seen. On a postive Note: The Match is coming along real good and have had several comments on the "GREAT" stage design and the Large Prize table. We are adding more dirt to our berms this week and going to try to get some gravel on our road into the range also. If you did not get your app. post marked Saturday(oct 1) it is now 100 entry fee.... but still worth it. Mike Clark is taking care of all the sign up and prize table and sponsorship it looks like we will have several big vendors attending this match also . We at the Double Tap Ranch are hosting the match and making sure the stages and match run smoothly. We are having dedicated RO's for each stage and Carbonless score sheets this year so everyone can have a copy and each stage gets run the same for all squads.
  12. Can't wait went out and shot my KIMBER custom 45, that i started with 7 years ago, yesterday with some of the OLD power factor Ammo and some of the new power factor ammo.... WHEEEE! the 180 ammo KICKS! Using 8 round Wilson mags and a Blade tech holster still trying to figure out what mag pouches to use but like the offset/stacked pouches some are using in production. any one know the name of the Mfgr.
  13. Flex, Love to Shoot, classifications and Divisions would be great to get a handle on the times from you guys
  14. I think the Stage is Legal just that if hard cover on paper should be contrasting you would think it would be the same for hard cover on steel. but it don't say that in the rule book under steel. still waiting on the e-mail from amidon will re mail him today to make sure he got it. PICS would be good make things a lot clearer for those that was not there
  15. Your Right, He did say dirty trick. Sorry need to read back further Iam not getting at how hard a stage should be, just is it legal? So we all know in the future. it really does not make a difference now the match is over, said and done. but your right about the grumble factor. Another friend shooting a glock with a black front /rear sight shot over 81 rounds on a 32 round stage, The point is when I run into something that is a little gray and not black and white like this it just make me wonder ( and I guess I am not the only one) since I design a boat load of stages. Lets us know what you think when you shoot it in coleman. I am thinking about driving the 4 hours to attend just to prove to myself i could shot it faster than 73 seconds
  16. WOW! that link to steak place is WAY WAY out of date several of the restrants don't exist anymore. and I would NEVER get a steak at a pioneer rest. I eat out almost every day been to almost all the restaurants several times, so I would stick to the restrauants on our web page. Branding Iron on scott and hwy 82 (kell blvd.) has kick butt BBQ but is one of those hole in the wall places.
  17. The stage discription Does not tell you the pickets were only 4" between each other and made out of STEEL, Just so we all understand, (BTW I liked the stage shot it slow only 9 extra rounds and agree with most of what you say Flex... Find ALL the targets) What was most distracting was not the color of the plates at that port but the texas star that was behind the Pickets (BTW all the plates on the star were White) Focus was all on the star and trying to knock the plates off as it wobbled between pickets. So if you did not shoot the plates first it was... Wheee! glad I am done with that and moved on, since it took the longest time usally to the hit plates on the star. (friend of Mine, C class, was HAPPY to shoot it in just under 100 seconds) Don't know what your looking at but I have the Data Base and without that stage... 2nd moved to 5th overall as an example. So it weighed much more than most stages. Penalties were not the big thing it was the time taken that messed with the hit factors. No one said it was a dirty trick just wanted to know was it legal / right for a level two match? I learned a good lesson shooting it, glad it was there and is going to be in another match locally in just two weeks. As far as legal or not, I think it was well with in the rules but it is one of those stages that make you go HMMMM! Works for Paper why would it NOT work for real hard cover and steel targets. We Can't make a rule book for everthing. People come up with new ideas every day and I say... Bravo... keep it up.. Sorry for the long winded post .
  18. OK... WHO TOLD YOU ABOUT THE POOL I GOT DIBBS ON THE ENGINE BLOWING UP
  19. OK, that makes Sense. So that rule is for Paper Only...HUUUMM, intresting. Lets see what the big dog says. Make no difference to me either way, just like to have a clear cut. It was brought up at the match to the range master from what i heard and Bill did not think it applied either.
  20. The Paragraph does start out talking about paper but, a target is a target... and the difference is simulated hard cover verses real hard cover. Makes sense that the rule would apply to real hard cover also, but I don't know. Sent an e-mail to Amidon for the offical response will post here when i get it back. just seems to make a real hard stage just that much harder. Also Iam the one that posts the scores on J&A web page and they sent be the match data base to do it. So after the scores were posted I ran the finals after deleting stage 7 and the results were dramticaly different, just a what if, for my on curiosity
  21. The Holiday Inn Or What it was Last year, has been sold and is the Remington Something. Holiday Inn decide to buy the sheraton across the highway Just so folks willl know. I hate it when the landmarks change
  22. I think what Big Lucky and a few of his fellow squad members are talking about is this rule... 4.2.4.3 By painting or taping the portion of the TARGET deemed to be hidden by hard cover a single and visibly CONTRASTING color. What do you think? I know of two folks that never engaged the three Black on black plates on the second port, said they never saw them.
  23. I use one in my 45 kimber with a 13 pound spring and 200 grain bullets and I like it. the springco takes the waap out of the recoil on the fat bullet gun. would not think it would be that great for a minor load but have never used one in my XD. are they Legal in Production?
  24. all the "GOOD" resturants are lised on our web Page at www.doubletapranch.com Talked to mike this last weekend at TSL and he said he has over $8000.00 worth of prizes already and has spent very little secition money yet. so it going to be a GOOD prize table.
