  1. saga continues..... use a ghost so no issue with holster, I have now ran a bit through them, and beveled. I have bought Dawson , Brazos, Midway optics all colors, And I am getting the same 200-300 before break, so I did install this sight, but I did not damage that I can see the blade area. I am running a 10lb recoil, I will start going up and see if that is the issue. The only reason I doubt it is I only recently did this and I had issues with the 11.5, although I do not recall them being so quick! hell a local match and a practice and its out of there! Just wanted to keep all up to date so maybe someone else can find help with theirs in reading this and keep the shooters thinking about my aggravating issue... although on a bright note if its a sunny day I see the light coming through the hole, kinda like a natural fiber optic!
  2. invited a friend to come try a local shoot and I would supply him with gear/gun and bullets. Got him suited up , got myself suited up went to bag to get guns....oops, guess we dont have guns luckily a buddy was out there and we all shared one gun, now I constantly have this fear of forgetting something about 1/2 way to range...I guess a sort of flashback syndrome
  3. Thanks everyone for the input, I have addressed some of the thoughts some time ago before writing this: I did call Brazos and was told to take a small drill bit and ream the hole a bit for edges but was not told about the counter sink. I have Replaced so many that I would think at least one time I got it tight...LOL after these years, Use N320 powder, And I will begin to check after install and re heat if its loose from now on, (I would have never really thought that a tiny movement up there would be so hard, but then again I did melt and use super glue and it still disappeared) what I failed to mention was the first sight was a lighting microdot, that worked good as it was intended, but as my eyes were getting worse and I was experimenting with a larger bead I ran the fiber all the way through (asked Brazos if that was ok, answer yes)and thats when the breaking began, so I said the hell with it and ordered the thin lightning rod sight, and it breaks them just like the other, but if I use it as if it were a lightning rod microdot, well, so far so good. Of course that defeats what I was trying to accomplish. Sorry if this makes no sense in writing, But the response is much appreciated and I will for sure check on my situation per some the applicable suggestions and keep everyone informed! Ger
  4. So I own a brazos limitd bcg pro, great gun, love it. But this gun is a fiber optic breaking machine, after 2.5 years I figured I would post up and see if I am alone. I have: Bought a whole new front sight no change Tried multiple brands and colors, no change Have used super glue and melted no change I am at the end of my rope, it seems I get about 200+ shots before it disappears And I am ok with just dealing with it, as I seem to be able to shoot with the open whole when it happens with no big deal, it's more the WHY that is driving me nuts...ideas?
  5. at 47 I started p90x after Medial Meniscal Tear, but as Tony would say " do your best forget the rest" and "modify as needed" to do the exercise within the limits of the injury, never did the diet part went from 205 to 179, just restarted the program about a month ago, I also have his one on ones, and p90+, I am a believer! my knee is capable of most anything and turning 50 in a few months (never had any surgery). Like others have said you will be in the most fit shape of your life more than likely. I have the insanity and if I was 15-20 years younger I would give it a serious try and maybe I will give it a go in a few months but Tony Horton and his DVD's got me sold. As far as the" high impact?" they could be but again he gives you options to take it down a notch if you cannot perform the exercise as its shown. Best of Luck!
  6. funny I always wondered the same thing, but did not want to mention it on a public forum.... cuz I thought I was the only one! ha, and recently had a similar discussion with a shooting pal. I have been shooting about 2 years now and have made a total of about 15 matches with classifiers, and I always seemed to botch them, not because I really tried to burn them down so much as I really really wanted to do well and knew I would never advance if I could not do well, I had placed at every level 2 and 3 I entered in that time but still was getting no where(and called sandbagger, in jest, with every win), and then out of the blues while I was placing in major matches I realized my scores where getting into competitive b class range and then all of a sudden my classifiers began to match my apparent progression in the sport. So pretty much everything these experienced shooters above have mentioned are the truth: , seems everyone of these guys figured out the same sort of basic thing, as now have I, I want A so bad I can taste it, but I also know it will come when I have earned it and deserve it and not a moment sooner, AND I appreciate the skill set of all the shooters esp the A and up! I was ignorant enough in the beginning to have thought to myself "I can shoot good, this should be no problem" geeeez what a fool I was, the dedication, money and time it takes to make Master and GM , not even sure I can ever make it, but the ride will sure as hell be fun! so from one new shooter to another, do what all these guys say, and it will happen.
  7. Well you were ON THE MONEY! I did the test with holding trigger and gun functioned perfect, put a bit more pressure on sear and trigger springs and it's working fine. Thanks for the help and the spot on analysis of the problem Ger
  8. Thank you so much, that is a wealth of info i can do some diagnoses with! Had some family issues come up but when I get a chance to see which is the answer i will post back back
  9. Happened to be last shot in mag, slide lock back, remove magazine, release slide , was going to pull trigger to insure safe pistol when i noticed hammer. Then after that i did it several times to confirm the repetition of symptom. I am really perplexed why it only happens on empty chamber with or without magazine, yet cannot be reproduced with a round in magazine. Is that procedure considered abusive to gun? that is information that has never been explained to me. I do have some minor spring bending ability and will increase tension on sear if you believe that is a place to start. Any other pointers are advice appreciated
  10. I do not think this is normal but maybe i am wrong. The gun shoot fine, reloads fine, can use slide release after reload after reload and fire away but when i use slide release on empty or no magazine the hammer will follow to half cock position. I am puzzled , like i said gun works fine and only does the follow on empty or no mag when slide release is used. Thanks in advance for the help
  11. geez I'm brain dead, I am talking about a 9mm SPARTAN ( I have a 40 trojan as well and got names confused), yes the spartan 0 problems, no mag issues etc no spring issues etc, matter fact cant say I ever seen a problem with any of my 1911 or 2011 guns that was not done by me...lol. its when we tinker we end up making them issues. But buying both guns does seem the best idea!
  12. Fwiw, i purchased a used 9mm trojan of the forum classified , ordered some Tripp mags, the gun looked to be lnib upon arrival, took some federal fmj and wwb, and some federal hp for a total of about 300 rds, never had a problem. Own a Cz 75 b as well, nice gun no problems same thing everyone else has stated but i must say i love grabbing that 1911 when ever i open that gun safe if i am going to shoot 9mm, if you are going to goto a 2011 at some time you may consider, the fact that the 1911 use may be good training for the future;-). It's why i bought it, its a cheaper toy to shoot same safety and mag release, sights etc, nice change from my 2011 guns.
  13. Great match! Besides all the thanks to staff, i would like to say thanks to squad 13 of which there was 13 members not only were they a great squad all hard workers and helpful but i guess 13 was not as unlucky a number after all ! I made power factor and 5 of the squad placed. All winners in my book Thanks again Gerwin

Funny, i did the same thing on my limited gun and was thinking the exact same thing but like yourself, i also do not have results of the transition as much as just seemed to look clearer. So much so, i may be looking at my sight picture slightly different as i noticed many shot lower than when i previously shot the gun with the red FO. This observation is just the results of a local match right after the switch. Interested in seeing what you notice in time.
  15. The award policy was right there on the front page of the TN Section Championship for everyone to read. 10 is not an unreasonable amount for recognition IMO. I for one, lobbied very hard on many different forums to get over the 10 in SS so it could be recognized. Unfortunately we didn't get there. Also, anyone is free to change divisions right until the last second if this is/was important to them. Most folks shoot to shoot, and if an award or a prize is won, all the better. But that is not why most of us shoot. John would have been more than welcome to join the other 6 GM shooters in Limited if he so chose. So, I guess you are suggesting that if two enter we should give an award to the winner? If not what number is more appropriate? 5??? 8??? Maybe you are suggesting not a plaque or a trip to the prize table, but Just a mention at the ceremony? If that is the case, then I agree with you and if I had thought of it I would have announced John's name as SS winner. But to say that I was on system overload at the time, would be the understatement of the year. this is the problem with writing when you are not gifted at it. you can not hear the passion in my words nor the smile on my face. I tried to make it clear in my post : and yes I was suggesting anything as Look, I have ran events of a different nature but no less chaotic, I think this was a great event and the hosts as well as the RO's , OUTSTANDING! and although I have only been shooting 18 months and have only been to 6 events this one was one of the best (but overall I cannot say I have been disappointed by any of them ) but the weather and speed of the event along with the stage design make this one a top contender in my books. At the end of the day its about the competition, how much faster did I need to go to win, how much straighter will the other competitor be, can I stay ahead of the pack or can I catch up? sure some come to shoot and have fun doing it but most are there to see how the fair against their peers, and although you can walk away knowing you won even if its not stated, its not quite the same as battling it out and when the smoke clears everyone knows you are the victor. If the is how the USPSA does it, so be it. I will still play the game, I am sure it was not meant not to be mentioned, please do not take it that way. But since it was not and I did not understand how it all worked, I wanted to mention it on a public forum to bring out the competition I was watching between two warriors for 1st single stack. For the record my name is Gerwin, I do not shoot single stack...yet, but after watching these two and watching the way they have to shoot, move and load and the thought to break down a stage to get those times...impressive. One day after I figure how to think and shoot with 19 bullets I will give this a try. To be honest I am watching for one of those 40 cal Trojans to pop up in the classifieds as we speak Again hats of to everyone and hopefully I will be welcomed back Still Learning, Gerwin
  16. I also thought the match was great from the Stages to the RO's, and the weather was outstanding, I was lucky enough to be in squad 11, and had the honor to watch and meet some of the best shooters in USPSA but also just damn good people with great sense of humor and willingness to help. I would also like to note and thank a shooter named John Hill who shot Single Stack, he was amazing to watch and kind enough to give me some advice and guidance. I am kinda new to the whole USPSA match stuff and did not understand why he and the other fine shooters in single stack did not get recognized for their achievements, he won the Single stack div. and it was a close battle between him and the other M shooter Corey Estill, after someone explained that if you do not have 10 in a div. its not recognized, I guess it is what it is... if you know that stuff going in to a match. But I still have difficulty understanding as a reasonable adult why some sort of credit or accolades are not given during awards to those competitors who incur all the expenses of entry travel etc. for what they achieved in their division, The way I have always seen things, as a competitor in any sport, it only takes two to have a competition, a winner and a loser, winner takes all even if its the glory but it should be recognized. I can understand that possibly no trip to the prize table for 1st if the 10 mark is not met, but not even a plaque? Do not take this as a bash on the TN Open it was OUTSTANDING! and rules are rules I guess, but this to me is just about what makes sense, Last but not least thanks to Robert and Wanda for the DVD of pics that they made for everyone in the squad as a gift...outfreak'n standing!

fun, is a understatement. Its the best and so are the fine folks that participate in it. Probably as good as the shooting part is the caliber of people you meet.

    Ger's Range Diary

well this past weekend I made a few more mistakes to store away upstairs and do not do again, like forget to load all my magazines all the way. So I have a 75% chance of putting a fully loaded mag in the gun and with my luck I was able to put the 25% chance into the gun first...of course that made my stage plan go out the window add a few seconds...adlib and a good lesson learned. Then on the next stage I learned I am still to easy on my ammo inspection and managed to get another high primer in my ammo boxes..a few more seconds in that stage and yet another lesson learned...again The neat thing about this diary is I can see how many times I can repeat the same mistake!
  19. 1 Year of USPSA shooting gone, April 09-10 Has been a good year won or placed in all major matches I attended in u /c class and moved to b class and placed, and more importantly realized how good the shooters are and realize that the only reason I got this far was from some athletic skill and bringing some skills from my paintball competitive career that carried over to this sport in the way of doing stuff under pressure and crowds and moving and shooting. BUT I must work on my grip and break bad habits, I must work on COF, must focus more on my sights!, and my list goes on.... But what I have discovered this weekend after a year of shooting about 3 times per month avg, is it has taken this long for me to be more comfortable to compete, the jitters have calmeddown (not gone away yet) , the need to walk a stage what seemed to be 100 times to get what I was going to do has reduced itself to a few times. My gun broke this weekend after the first shot on the first stage, my back up lost its fiber optic on the 2nd stage and none of this threw me out of the game, I think I shot a little slower when my brain realized it was dark out there at the end of the gun but the hits where good. So for the record it has taken me a year to get to this point, now I must begin the trek of refining and better understanding of the Art of the Gun and the Sport. We will see what year 2 brings....
  20. all great ideas to try, it appears the common denominator is DRY FIRE. I was hoping that was not going to be it, as it seems after 12 hr work days six days a week and then doing the chores that need getting done this time is hard to find for me, which I am sure it is for many of us. I do not know if this is just me but the part about dry firing I hate the most believe it or not is going to change out current belt to velcro inner outer
  21. thanks everyone for the help, it looks like the Alco brand was the one I had seen before.
  22. I have read to get about 30-40% of grip on my strong hand and the rest of the grip on my off hand and when I concentrate I can do it but under speed and pressure of shooting I put the death grip on it. I shoot decent but I gather from the research here it is not going to be the best for the long haul and advancement. Now I seem to have another reason to learn...my right wrist seems to get a nerve pinch or cramp when I hold the gun a certain way and apply a lot of pressure. So is this just a lot of rounds down range and super concentration or is there some kinda hint to speed the process up?
  23. Seems like a lot look alike but some just do not stick as well as others. I have seen some that looks like masking tape at a event that was almost the perfect color match and had great sticking power. Help appreciated Ger
