  1. It's a TAC-50...i know Mcmillan use a 1.20 ring as standard. The trouble is i would like to try BORS down the road and maybe NV...this could lead me to be buying 3 sets of rings $$$. What i understand is that height has two main effects...cheekweld and loss of MOA. Cheekweld shouldn't be an issue as i have 1.5" of stock travel. MOA loss becomes an issue out past 1,500 yds but as i'm using a NF 22 i do have 100 MOA to play with. ~Mike
  2. Just in the final steps of finalizing my 50 setup have rifle, scope & case all sorted out. The last piece of the puzzle is rings...so a question to all you 50 cal shooters out there: What height rings are you using and would you change it? SCOPE => 56mm objective. 1.20 seems standard. 1.30 ? 1.40 ? Also, need to consider the possible install of a long rail for any NV needs down the road. ~Mike
  3. Loosen primer feed bar. Pull handle so primer cup is through shellplate. Tigthen primer feed bar. TA-DA!!!
  4. Zexy.... 4-5 weeks....maybe!!! Waiting on the seating die. ~Mike
  5. I trim to 1.950 as i'm using the x-die. The x-die then resizes the case every loading and i never need to trim again. As an FYI...i have just retired my first batch of 10 x fired brass (WIN headstamp) out of with i had about 3-4 primers fall out and 6-7 neck splits. Not bad for 1,500 rounds through a DPMS (AR-10). ~Mike
  6. A story i'm hearing is Winchester have increased their recommended MSRP. Anyone know fer sure? Why would they...to maximize profits or slow sales? Or did someone tell them to?
  7. Depends on what spec and make they are. Winchester are fetching the best price, although the other makes are not far behind. There have been a few factory batches LP, LR & SP recently so i would say $40 to a friend or $50 open market. If they are SR add $10 to each. My 2c worth. ~Mike PS - I'm paying $35.90 + tax for win primers right now off the shelf (no i'm not telling).
  8. Goodluck with that..... i've not seen any of those for months online. Some good news...i just got my PV varget backorder My advice would be to either backorder with PV, WID or GRAF and wait 6-8 weeks or try Ramshot TAC. ~Mike
  9. $35.90 + tax here in northern AZ.
  10. http://onlinebooks.110mb.com/tm%2031-210/31-210-03-05.htm I know I've posted this link here before. Ahhhh...match heads...why didn't i think of that Thanks for the link...man that book has everything...jeez. Yes...home made primers is a last resort...but who knows when the skill will be needed. Thanks again, Mike
  11. On a 550 why can't you just lift out the primer tube and tip them out? ~Mike
  12. Pretty much a newbie to this game...but i was wondering what it would take to reload a primer? If the dent in the cap is knocked out, is there any way to mix your own primer filler? I've been keeping all my old primers and now have a large ziplock full. ~Mike
  13. Not mentioned above...don't forget about ED BROWN. ~Mike
  14. W231 and Clays meter great for my 45. Will be starting to reload 308 in a few weeks with Varget...so i'll let you know. ~Mike
  15. I share your pain...i'm doing the same thing going to the indoor range once a week trying to get them all in the same hole. About 1 in 10 starting shots take out the X it sure would be nice to put the other 7 in there Been reading Brian's book and i think it boils down to slowing it down enough to watch every shot completely and getting one's wobble down to a minium with lot of range time. Once these are acomplished i think 8 rounds groups will be much easier....easy ehh??? That's my thoughts as a newbie...only been shooting 3 months and 3,000 rounds. Attached my first target from last w/e. Keeping that focus for 250 rounds is hard...no doubt about it. ~Mike .45 KIMBER TLE/RL II
  16. No problem with dust here...using the PETCO lizard litter (ground walnut) and a cap of NU-FINISH. Tumble for 2 hrs until it sparkles => into separator => wiggle it a little to let most of the media fall then about 20 seconds left and 20 seconds right...done. ~Mike
  17. The 2009 Hogdon manual is on most of the supermarket shelves round here right now for $5.99. Don't have it with me right now but i think PP was in there...i use it for CLAYS and 231. ~Mike
  18. I also just picked up about a dozen or so in my latest range visit. Although i'm pretty sure its not a casing problem but all the *I*'s had smoke marks down just one side. What causes this? is it ok to reload? ~Mike
