  1. Do you have to declare that you will be shooting multiple loads during the match. Do each of the loads you use have to go through chrono? Just curious. Never seen anyone use multiple loads before. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Although there is no specific requirement for declaring each ammo, the RM would have been within his rights to order rounds he picked to be chronographed, even if the shooter had previously given a chrono sample.

As long as the topic has veered off the "I Like" into commentary. Oakley is very agressive about making sure that buyers never get a "deal" - if an Oakley dealer is caught selling for less than 100.00% retail, they're not going to be a Oakley dealer much longer. There's a pretty good chance the replacements are leaving the factory for at least as much as the originals did. This is like the Lee reloading guarantee - "50% max of retail to rebuild a press" - when the street price available to the individual non-dealer is a bit above 50%.
  3. The nationals location is the president's call because of the USPSA bylaws, however, the current president has consulted with the board before making arrangements. Also, the 5 year deal for PASA (ending in 2006) was the result of a board vote, not a presidential edict. One thing to consider is that those involved do the best they can, but cannot always publish every offer, negotiating position, etc. If we disclose every aspect of all bids publicly, it would serve to undermine USPSAs ability to effectively negotiate. This is similar to the situation in real estate sales - no broker will tell you the contract price on a house until the $$ has changed hands, as that information could undermine seller's negotiating ability if the deal falls through. There are often conditions which are not obvious. For example, a range which is making a bid, and plainning on making a facilities investment to meet USPSA's needs, may adopt a firm stance of "n years in a row guaranteed". The members will hear "the board turned down the proposal from .....", but will not always know every fact that went into that decision. I am in favor of open disclosure of USPSA board activity, but financial negotiations are one matter which necessity dictate take place in private (with the result being published in the annual report)
  4. I'd wager that the company will not even disclose their non-PO box address to you if you were to ask. Some of it could be security of information - if it's a privately held firm, customers could get a surprising amount of proprietary data just be stopping by (ie, get a guess as to the square footage of the operation, how busy the operation looks, number of people working there, etc.). And then there's the influx of customers who will stop by to buy something, ask for a tour or on the spot repair, etc.
  5. An arbitration committee's job is to make sure the rules are properly implemented, not step outside the rules. For example, although an arb committee might be tempted to grant a reshoot on a popper if a competitor took 5 hits to knock it over, such a decision would be in direct contraction to the rules. There is a difference between something not explicitly covered by the rules, and decidig that rule is to be ignored because the arb committee thinks doing so would be fairer.

I had a comment, but realized it was off charter so I removed it.
  7. I saw DEDUCTIT on a Mercedes in Rochester, NY about 20 years ago.
  8. Another option is I've seen one competitor use is to chain tun gun to the toilet. Adds new meaning to the term "shooting the s---". I wonder if the hotels will be able to use all those cameras to track this down? They often have them in non-casino areas to provide evidence that "slip and fall" injuries are being faked. It might be worth finding out of they have video coverage of this area so you can determine if they have this mechanism available, but have decided not to spend the effort to use it.
  9. You won't see this plate unless you drive through the town of Harvard on the way home tonite, or check the gun club and PD parking lots in that town. Look for a black pickup. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Greg? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yup.

  11. I am interested in putting together a page of license plates on the USPSA members page - if you have a plate related to our sport, please email a photo or URL of a photo to rob@boudrie.com. I'll put together a page when I have enough to make it interesting.
  12. I've noticed that Wolf handgun ammo has an unpleasant smell when fired - to the point where I could recognize people shooting Wolf 45ACP without looking at their brass. Is this still the case?
  13. Voting for NRA directors is not an effective mechanism for change. The NRA publishes a list of recommended votes, and those endorsed candidates are all but assured of winning.
  14. Results are already available with first name / last name if you enter through the members page. I left the plain ascii version off since I wasn't sure anyone used it - with the plan to put it back if anyone notices. I guess this means I'll add it.
  15. For those of you who preferred the old version of the page - there is now a link near the bottom of the local results page which will bring up a page listing all clubs, rather than a pulldown menu item.
  16. I probably won't get to it for a while, but I will be doing the same thing with squadding system - first name/last initial only unless you are in the members area. The optional privacy flag will still be available to those wishing to hide their entire name from view by others.
  17. I fixed the problem viewing old years results from the members page. The upload results link has alway sbeen on the "additional content" page, however, I have added a link to the results index page (the one where you go to choose a club to get local match results) to make this easier to find. rob
  18. It has been said "follow the money". The economics of paintball are such that most of the fields are businesses run as the means of providing a full or part time income for the proprieters. You don't need much in the way of facilities; don't need to build stages; and you can get by with a relatively small staff. You need a few field officials, but you don't need RO's and scorers, and also don't need to ask competitors to tape targets, pick brass, and put away props at the end of the match. Although a commercial range can make a profit on a USPSA/IPSC match, I doubt that it is possible for someone to find a plot of land to rent, buy a bunch of guns to rent out, and start offering USPSA matches as a "product" in the same what that paintball matches are "sold". If it were possible to open a profitable USPSA club with an economic profit to the founder and investment similar to a paintball field, we'd see then cropping up all over the place.
  19. I had added public results with First name/last initial. The links are currently at the top of the "Match Calendar" page - I'll add a more prominent link or rename "Match Calendar" to "Match Info" once this has been in use for a while. The public area only shows results from 2004 on (many old results predate the EzWinScore results upload system), however, the full archive remains available in the members area. As with anything, there is always a chance of a bug or two, so please email rob@boudrie.com if you find any. Rob
  20. Some years ago, the RM exam was "identify a flawed ruled and propose a better one". I did my essay on popper calibration. I do not like the system, since I have actually seen the following a major match (not the nationals) : "The popper fell on your second shot, so your score stands. You'll have to excuse me now, since I need to find a wrench to get this popper readjusted for the next shooter" What I suggested for major matches: 1. Paint poppers between each shooter 2. If a shooter has two hits on a popper in circle, and in the non-reviewable opinion of the range officer this was due to a failure of the popper to fall, a reshoot is required. The reason for the "non-reviewable" clause was to prevent a shooter from double tapping a popper to force a reshoot on a stage which was going badly. What this does not allow for, however, is the possibility a shooter might have a low power factor round. The current calibration system places far too much faith in the "repeatability" of poppers, and forces the shooter sho hits one dead center and sees it standing to make a tough call. A "double hit==reshoot" rule would be fairer to shooters who encounter such a problem in a stage. Although I don't really care for the current procedure, I do not detect any growing sentiment to change it.
  21. Thanks - that's the first place I checked, but they did not show up when I did a "select by brand name'" on California Competition works at the dillon site. I'll have to give them a call.
  22. You can find out all sorts of trivia about watermelon at www.hollarseeds.com (yes, that Hollar). I can't find the really good stuff they used to have posted about the differences between 22, 44 and 33 chromosome melons, but they do have a couple of melon seed PHd's on staff.
  23. I am looking for the belt mounted magazine carriers that hold 4 12 gauge shells horizintally so they can be granned with one hand - could someone please point me to a supplier which has them in stock and ships quickly? I've decided to try a three gun match and have all the gear lined up except mag carriers. I would also welcome any recommendations for belt mounted pouched for 30 round AR15 mags. Rob
  24. Time to make this IPSC related - care to guess who one of the biggest watermelon seed magnates in the US is?
