Buy her one of these to replace the stock DOH hanger. It will make a huge difference. http://www.benstoegerproshop.com/mobile/Product.aspx?ProductCode=BSPS-Hanger
Edit: also buy a CR speed, blade tech, or DAA competition belt (with velcro inner belt and stiff outer).
+1 for the BOSS. She can buy just the hanger and use it with your existing BT holster minus the DOH attachment.

The 91030 should already have an extended firing pin and CZC's version of the reduced firing pin spring installed. Its basically ready to go out of the box for USPSA Prod. I shot my 91030 stock in a few matches and practice sessions before I started experimenting with springs.
11.5 hammer spring with the extended firing pin/reduced spring have so far ignited CCI and Winchester primers with no issues. It did lighten up my DA trigger by about 1 lb.
Early on I broke a Trigger Return Spring, so that was a good excuse to swap out the trigger pin for CGWs FF pin. While it was apart I also installed a CGW reduced TRS.
I also ran some drills to compare the 11 lb recoil spring that came in the gun with a 10 lb'er. Based on the drills I opted to stay with the 11 lb spring.
The only issues I've had with the extended Shadow safeties is sometimes if I am not paying attention when I draw the left side safety gets partially flipped up by my strong hand thumb. But I think this is something I can address in training to make sure my thumb indexes on top of the safety when I draw. Being that the TS paddle is a little further forward than on a 1911/2011 I've had to do some re-training, but I'm getting there.

I carry 5. The one farthest away near my back holds 11 rounds.
^This.

However, it probably took a good 6-12 months before I got all my hand strength back.

How long a recovery?
Not long. IIRC, about a week to 10 days for the incisions to heal (about 1/4") and then maybe another week or two of rehab then I was back to shooting and dry-firing.

I too want to retain the OAL of the ammo I currently use for my standard pistol. Currently running 1.160 oal. Will the 40 mag allow this length?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
1.160" is the max OAL I've been able to load in the .40 Tripp Cobra mags.
-
What I saw was the Tripp cobra I believe. So is it possible to tweak the guts of the Tripp cobra mag to hold 10?
Where is the spacer? At the bottom? Maybe I can slice it off? Sorry I don't have this yet and want to know these stuff before taking the plunge in buying it. Had the pistol reserved already though. It's a para classic in 40.

The mag tube on the System and Corey mags are longer than the standard Tripp Cobra mag. The spacer on the .40 mag is along the back spine of the mag, and basically takes up the difference in length between .40 and 10mm. The ones I have are metal and I'm not sure how they're attached but I'm assuming tack-welded in place.
Going 10mm or .40 mags depends on what ammo you plan on shooting. I like to load my .40's to 1.180" and use the same load in my 2011's for Limited division, which is why I wanted the 10mm mags. The 10-rnd mags do extend down below the grip a little more than the Tripp Cobras, but when you run a big magwell the extra length of the System/Corey mags is perfect.
-
Further question, is the 10 round tripp mags the same as the Cobra Tripp mags for 40? I found some but they appear to be advertised as 9 rounders and the sales guy told me they are Cobra Tripp. Are they the same and one can just squeeze another round in it?
Not sure which 10 rnd Tripp mags you are referring to, but if they are the Tripp System or Tripp Corey mag then those are 10 rnd 10mm mags. The difference between the two is the System mag uses the flex follower and holds 10 rnds, whereas the Corey mag uses the hybrid follower which restricts capacity to only 9.
The standard Tripp Cobra mag in .40 has a spacer which limits your OAL to about 1.160" and only holds 9 rnds.
-
So hypothetically, say you could declare major PF for Production with .357Sig, .40 or .45. How would that work, download to 8 rnds for major?
Meh, personally if there's going to be a change I'd rather see the B-zone be worth 4 pts instead of 3 in minor scoring.

What do you guys think about the iPad Mini in regards to battery life and daylight visibility?
Battery life on iPad Mini's is pretty good and should do you for a 5-6 stage club match no problem. Last year at Nats we kept ours going all day, but I also gave it a quick charge in my truck at lunch. May be a good idea for all-day matches to have external battery back-ups. My club bought some of those last year with the plug in cords for Nooks as well as iPads.
I agree that its harder to see the iPad screen in direct sunlight. If you tip it upright and use your head to block the sun its not bad. I've seen some clubs make a kydex sun shield, but I usually try to shade myself by standing behind a wall or somebody really big...

Yeah, heard that too (7:40 mark)Did I hear right that CZ Custom is trying to get the CZ 75 CTS LS-P SA/DA 9mm 91710 approved for USPSA Production? If so that would be a my next purchase once it gets approved.
Said he's hoping to get the CTS LS-B approved since it fits in the box.
Can I pre-order Serial # 2001?
-
12 lb is what I use in my 6" .40. Slide has been lightened a little but nothing extreme. I chrono'd 176 at Nats.
-
Some DA/SA guns do not have a manual safety. CZ's P-01 is a good example. It just has a decocker lever to drop the hammer. No manual safety for cocked and locked.
-
Ran into the same problem with a match when it was in the low 20's. Ended up syncing some extra Nooks and changed them out for the ones with low battery. Fortunately we only get 2-3 squads worth of people on these kind of match days so plenty of Nooks to go around. Also asked the scorekeepers to keep the Nook in their coat between shooters. iPads seem to far better than the Nooks in inclement weather.

I couldn't agree more, THANKS IDPA for giving me a class to be competitive with my shield. I just shoot local matches but I am the guy most guys at the matches point and snicker at. I've been shooting ESP (I stippled my frame)with a Shield, RCS gear and a flannel shirt, or IWB in hot weather. I realize I'm not Bob Vogel and I use the matches to give me more practice and time with my carry gun, kinda what IDPA was supposed to be I guess. On the other side of that everyone has different goals as to what they want out of their match, such as winning at all costs, whether it be the money spent on equipment or push every rule to the absolute limit. With the popularity of the xd's and shield, I think IDPA did the right thing.... with reading the posts in this thread I maybe the minority though.
You may be in the minority here in this thread. But I suspect you would not be in the minority when it comes to the typical IDPA shooter.
I'm no defender of IDPA. I lost most of my respect for the organization watching the way they handled their rule changes/interpretations over the past year. But I'll admit this new division will give me something to try out at the few local matches I do shoot this year.
My guess is CCP spec'd 4.1" max barrel length because the Glock 19 has a 4.01" long barrel. Anybody want to speculate if the max thickness of CCP may also have something to do with Glock 19 dimensions...?

Can't speak for Wolff, but STI recommends a 14 lb spring in their 5" .40 guns. From their FAQ:
Q: What is the recoil spring weight in my gun?
A:
- Compensated pistols 8 pounds
- 5″ 9mm guns 10 pounds
- 5″ .40 S&W guns 14 pounds
- 5″ .45 ACP guns 18 pounds
- 6″ 9mm guns 8 pounds
- 6″ .40 S&W guns 12 pounds
- 6″ .45 ACP guns 14 pounds

I asked the same question last summer when I was looking at CZs. I was having a hard time deciding between the two so ended up getting one of each. My CZ75 Shadow Custom (no rail) weighs 35.7 oz (no mag). My CZ-75 Shadow Custom weighs 38.0 oz without mag. So there's about 2.3 oz difference in weight and its all in the nose of the gun.
In theory the extra weight helps keep the gun more controllable during recoil but may slow down the transition between targets. I've shot about 9 USPSA and IDPA matches alternating between guns and to be honest I don't notice much difference between the two. If there is any difference in my splits its minimal and I can't really tell if my transitions are slower with the SP-01.
But I like them both. SP-01 is my main Prod gun, the CZ-75 is its backup and also for a few IDPA matches here and there.

This one is a pretty good option: http://czcustom.com/shadowcustom2014blk.aspx
Legal for USPSA Production division, and should be legal for IDPA's SSP and ESP divisions.
-
Please forgive me if I'm mixing up disciplines, but don't you have to apply the safety when you holster the gun? I thought that was the speed advantage to a Glock?
Thanks
Not if it is a DA/SA gun like the CZ-75. Hammer down at the start.

Same bullet for match and practice (Leather Heads), but I've been using cheaper powders for practice and saving the VV N320 for matches. Last year my practice powder was e3 but then ran out and I couldn't find any. Then ETR7 became available thru Leather Head so will be using that for all my practice ammo (9mm and .40).

My first Limited holster was an $85 kydex DOH from Center of Mass when Rick had the company. A local guy operates COM after Rick passed and is making the same holster with a few refinements. I'm still using Rick's for 3-gun. Eventually I jumped on the skeletonized race holster band wagon and got one from Manny Bragg (~$180?).
My first Ltd mag pouches were the Safariland 771's (still using them for 3-gun) but for a while I was using the Ghost pouches before treating myself to a set of DAA Race Masters and a magnet.

I typically don't flick on my CZ's safety during a stage until I get to ULASC. And even then, that's probably just more out of habit from shooting 1911/2011's than anything else.
-
I have a calibration load using 125 gr Leather Heads (same coating as Bayou) with 3.7 gr of VV N320 that chrono's about 118 PF out of my CZ. I have a couple matches coming up this spring where I will be calibrating steel so loaded up several hundred of them for that purpose. If I had 115's I would probably have used those.

I change mine about once a year. Being that I use Grams followers I buy the 10-pack of Grams springs from Shooters Connection.
