  1. I think part of the problem is some people don't realize that 1 sec is longer than they think (the short-beepers), and others that don't realize how long 4 seconds actually is (those that think they got long-beeped)...LOL!

I know when I have my Pact III on delay for dry-fire sometimes I get irritated with how long the 3 sec delay feels like.

  2. Chastized by the "crew"? You mean squad? Sorry, the "crew" part threw me off.

What are they complaining about? You're just doing what you're supposed to do. Have them show you the rule that supports their position. Until then, standby...(1 thousand 1)...(1 thousand 2)...(1 thou...) beep!

  3. You can save weight by selecting a few parts made from aluminum/polymer instead of steel, such as MSH, magwells, and even FLGR. Light weight grips also can help. IIRC, wood grips are lighter than G-10, or hog out the back of the G-10 grips. But I would probaby have the gun built as you desired, then weigh. You may be alright as built. Swapping out a few parts (for not that much money) can get you within the 43 oz limit if you need to shed some.

I don't have the exact numbers handy, but when I was concerned that my steel S&A MSH/magwell was going to put me overweight I got one from S&A that was aluminum. I want to say the weight savings was about 1.5 oz. That alone might be enough.

  4. I don't know if the android app is out yet that will generate the activity/classifier report, but if you have an iOS version of the PS app loaded on an iPhone or iPad you can generate the report.

    In the iOS version:

    >View Results, then scroll down towards the bottom

    >click on Activity/Classifier Report

    >enter in the club name, club code, and match level

    >click on Preview

    >at this point I usually save it to Drop Box, then from my lap top I browse and upload the .txt file to USPSA from their website just like we used to do when doing the scores in EzWinscore.

  5. So for clubs that have the 'must-be-a-club-member-to-shoot' policy, what happens when you host a section or state match or higher?

    Several ways I know of.

1.Part of your match fee buys you a membership.

2.You could be considered a guest for the day.

    3. Some clubs have an open house or membership drive for the weekend once a year.

I assume there are others like a daily or match only range membership.

Depends on the clubs by laws.

Fair enough. At my club the difference in L1 match fees for a non-club member is a lousy $5 ($15 for non-club members, $10 for club members). Seems reasonable, or at least I haven't heard any complaints from the non-members and our mix of club vs non-club is about 50-50 at our twice a month matches. We do offer a reduced match fee of $5 for juniors or students to help those kids out.

I'm not about to tell another club how to run their matches (anymore than I want somebody to tell me how to run mine), but seems like your #1 could get excessive depending on how much a non-member has to pay. Guess people will vote with their wallets.

We need to check with marcco and sarge on this because I'm not clear on their stance if it's ok with the rules to take 5 or 10 dollars extra every match compared with a one time lump payment. This is a little tongue in cheek marcco & sarge but I don't think you have answered this specific situation that happens all over the country. Is this club within the rules as you see it?

Its OK, I see the humor in it. But I think you and I both know the answer to that one, just like some of us are scratching our head over barring a non-club member from shooting a USPSA match or at least having difficulty reconciling how that is supported by the rulebook. Yeah, I get it, not all gun clubs look upon our sport as favorably as we would like them to and changing some club BoDs is a tough row to hoe.

That said, a club can do as a club wants, but I think your annual affiliation says you agree to abide by a certain way.

  6. I worked this year's Nats and shot the pre-match. I spent maybe $50 out of my own pocket. My cost in gas was covered, hotel was free, brkfast was free at the hotel, lunch was on the match, dinner was per diem. OK, so I had to take an entire week off and be gone from home Sunday thru the following Monday. But it wasn't cost prohibitive for me to shoot Nats (this year).

  7. It depends. If you have a stage where all targets are full targets inside 10m there's going to be negligible difference. Push some of those targets out 5m or throw hard cover or no shoots on them and it starts to change in a big hurry.

    I would agree with that.

Then depending on how far apart the locations/views are, the difference between hi-cap and lo-cap divisions can vary. Have a stage with a lot of distance between arrays in which you can reload on the move and you can reduce the hi-cap advantage. But shrink the shooting area down significantly with only a step or two between positions and the hi-cap is going to dominate.

  9. What kind of mods are needed with the flex followers?

With mine (Corey mag + flex) I can load 10 no problem and reload easily with the slide forward. However I have noticed that sometimes the front of the flex follower will pop out the top of the mag when I go to slide lock, and when that happens the mag doesn't drop free. Be curious if there is a fix for this.

  10. It's AFF-Flaaackkkk! LOL

I had one put in my first custom 2011. Runs great, havent had any issues. Disassembly/reassembly for cleaning is a little more involved, just be careful not to loose any of the parts when you take it out.

But then again I also have several 1911/2011's with conventional extractors that I have t had any Jesus with either...

  11. Hello: I don't use a button anymore. I use the Dawson extended mag release. It is the same diameter as the stock release but extends out further. I have large hands and can reach the button without changing my grip. Dawson make a couple of different lengths for different games. Some of the large buttons can interfere with your left hand causing you to eject the mag. Hope this helps. Thanks, Eric

This is what I am using. Dawson extended posilock with no button. The extended length makes it easier to hit.

  12. I had the same issue with a Gen 3 G35. It didn't happen that often, but enough to mess up a stage run now and then. Changed it out for the slide stop on a G17.

Curiously enough on my Gen 4 G34 I don't have this problem. I was prepared to change the SS out to the flat one, but I haven't had any issues with it locking back unexpectedly. Not sure if they changed the design on the gen 4 or if I'm gripping it differently.

Are you using the large back strap? That can put toy thumb father back

    Medium on the Gen 4

  14. From what I understand, there are several ways to get in:

    1) Get a slot from your Section Coordinator.

    2) Win your class at an Area match (at least three of my friends have gone to Nats this way)

    3) Wait List once all the slots are filled from #1 and #2 any slots left over are opened up.

    4) This method involves giving up some of your time, but I got into the 2014 Handgun Nats by signing up to work it. I shot in the pre-match then worked the next four days as RO. If not an RO, volunteer to work under the Quartermaster or Mr. Fixit. Or as a runner for stats. I'm not sure how next year's O-L-L10 match is going to be structured, but from what I've heard it sounds like a B2B format so there may not be a pre-match for staff to shoot. However at SS and Prod nats there might be...

  15. I agree with Mark. If you want to prevent somebody from doing something, make it not worth their while through how the stage is set-up. On some stages, depending on how they are set up it might make sense to cut a corner by stepping outside the shooting area. However if you add a couple more walls it makes the distance they have to travel further and would make the short-cut not worth it.

Personally I like the options that 1.1.5 gives us, and would prefer not to limit somebody's action with special instructions in the WSB.

  16. At our local SC matches we run 4 stages one week, then the other 4 stages the next. The stages are always in the same bay, and each bay has two sets of color coded whisker spikes in them, one set marks the dimensions of the stage from week1, the other set marks the stage from week2. It makes setup pretty simple.
