    Experian

I totally agree. These three companies that are all but inaccessable to the average Joe have way too much power. It's next to impossible to get ahold of them for anything. I had to help a customer deal with an experian issue last week (she had put an identity theft warning on her account about a decade ago and couldn't get a cell phone without removing it) and it only took the two of us about two hours to get a live person on the phone that could explain the problem. The problem is that these people don't work for us. They work for the lenders who are worried about their bottom dollar not about one specific customer getting the shaft from the credit agencies. There needs to be much more accountability to consumers. Afterall, it's our information they're selling.
  2. Just curious. Do you have any first-hand experience with the HFC? Is having a plastic lower a bad thing for a glock clone?
  3. I've got the G17 from Manny Bragg's site. The trigger has a fair amount of pre-travel(like a glock), but the actual click is slightly lighter and a little more crisp than a real glock trigger. It's great for practicing gun handling and movement. They're relatively accurate at close range too. Me and a buddy spent saturday night knocking over 10mm-18mm hex sockets. FWIW, I think you're going to have a hard time finding anything closer to a glock trigger in an airsoft gun since the mechanism is so fundamentally different. The only downside to the gun I bought from manny is that the slide is about 1/16" wider than a standard G17 slide so it wont fit into my holster without adjusting it way out. Easy fix, I just use an old holster that I had laying around and keep adjusted for the airsoft.
  4. I'm doing some running and lifting to get into better shape and improve my speed as well. I've left about 40lbs at the gym so far and can tell a HUGE difference in my quickness. Aside from the typical stuff that's been reccommended already, I've been playing a lot of Racquetball. It involves a lot of very short sprints, quick turns, and footwork is essential to get set up before each shot(sound familiar?) Has anybody else tried this? I'm not sure that it's helping much, but it certainly seems to require the same kind of quickness and agility used for IPSC shooting. Can't hurt right? Rob
  5. Lone wolf will build pretty much any slide you can imagine. They have a factory G22 slide on their site for $300, but that's the only factory slide listed. You might check their website for more info on the aftermarket slides. www.lonewolfdist.com
  6. Even if you could somehow sand the stipling off without removing any additional material, the front of the trigger guard on a stock glock has factory checkering, so even if you sanded it smooth it would never be a stock frame again.

I shot two matches last weekend. Both performances were decent, but not impressive by any means. I feel like my trigger control is slipping because of my lack of range time. My gun handling is getting fast from all the dry fire, but when I have to start breaking shots things are starting to get a little sloppy. I've got two practice sessions planned for next week, and the week after to prepare for Double Tap. I didn't make B class this month like I thought I would, which is good and bad news. My 65% classifier bumped an old 66% off the books, so I've got to shoot another one or two in the 60's to get to B. I don't see that being a problem at all. I'm excited about getting a better shot at High C for the double tap. I haven't shot long stages that much, so I have no idea whether I'll be up to the task or not, but I'll definitely have a better chance than I would have if I had been moved to B class. My movement has gotten MUCH fast in the last few months. I've learned to stomp the gas and the breaks, but I feel like I still have a lot to learn about keeping things smooth. I'm still wobbly when I get into many positions. My dad signed he, myself, and my brother up for a competitions class with TDSA Tulsa the first weekend of April. We'll be learning from Jay Mackey. I'm hoping this class gets me a good start in pushing toward A class. After seeing all the ports in the DTC stages, I'm going to build a long plywood wall with holes in it for airsoft practice. I feel like ports have been a weakness of mine since I never get to practice with them and only get to deal with them at matches. I'm hoping for a productive week on the range, and I can't wait until DTC!!!
  8. I ordered two sets the night before I first read this thread. I was hoping the channels in the sides would let air pass faster during strikes and maybe help with the light strikes I'm getting every once in a while from using a reduced power striker spring. After reading I'm thinking I might as well have burned $40. I should get them this week, and I'll report any changes if they happen. Drift: I'm not that worried about it now anyway since the production interpration is pending approval. I'll actually be able to lighten my striker.

    Steel Guide Rod

I lost one for a LWD guide rod. They tossed an extra in with my next order without even charging me for it. They mean it when they say you should use loctite.
  10. The BOD did an awesome job on this. It's very specific, and it concretes a lot of things. Thanks to all you guys.
  11. I loved this movie. The plot was kind of crammed into the movie, even at over 2 1/2 hours long. You could easily make two 3 hours movies out of the watchmen if you did it in greater detail. I just really like that it's a superhero movie unabashedly made for adults. I grew up reading comic books, and I often want to vomit after seeing Hollywood make my favorite superheroes into kid-friendly blockbusters (Batman forever, Batman and Robin, Dare Devil, etc). I want to see it again.
  12. Which weekend will you be here? Later, Chuck We're going to be there the week of August 29th for a wedding. The wedding is actually on Saturday the 29th, but I'm not sure what time it starts. Maybe we could squeeze in a match that morning. Would be nice to shoot a match in august in that nice and dry California heat. Around here it's even hotter and feels like a swamp that time of year.

Spent an hour at the range yesterday. I'm trying to find a place to practice where I have more consistent access, but when my dad is free he has permission to use a really nice private range with a 50 yard bay, steel plates, and covered shooting benches. I'm used to practicing in a big field with a hill, so it was a nice change of pace. It had been a while since I had actually set up multiple paper targets. Started with some draws, then a few El Prez's to work on turns and transitions. I'm shooting right around 8 seconds for a clean el prez. We didn't do them long enough for me to get a chance to really turn up the gas. From there we worked on some movement drills and timed some reloads. The box to box drills felt sloppy and I think I'm going to start working on a more consistent way of entering boxes. We also spent a few magazine shooting plates at 50 yards to test our new 147gr loads. I want to put several hundred of them through my gun before DTC just to make sure. I also need to chrono them still, but we didn't have time yesterday. My dad was shooting on his lunch break so we only had about an hour, and I left with about 150rds and the feeling of an unscratched itch. I'm off Sunday and will get some practice in. I'm pumped about DTC and really want to work hard between now and then, although I don't want to get so excited that I feel pressured about the match. I'm trying to keep that in mind, but it's hard not to.
  14. Anybody have any helpful advice or warning about mistakes I should try to avoid making? I'm not talking so much about the shooting of the match as much as the preparation, logistics, etc. Is there anything I should know that I wouldn't already have learned from club matches?
  15. I feel for you. I work for a cell phone company and actually have to call customers from time to time and remind them about their renewal dates. I hate being the person to call even more than I hate recieving the calls.
  16. I've never seen that done, and I've never seen a conversion barrel for it. Just out of curiosity, why would you want to do that?
  17. I just got a PM about that. The newer barrels are supposed to be a lot better. I think I'm going to give mine a try and just get the EGW U die if I have any problems. No point dropping cash on the barrel if I can reload from the stock one.
  18. I just got a G35 and I'm planning to switch to limited next year. I'm getting this gun set up for the 2010 season, and am considering a few different mods. I know the "glocked" brass topic has been beaten silly on the forums, but I couldn't find a thread that pertained to my specific question, which is: If I replace the stock barrel in my G35 with an aftermarket barrel, will I avoid the "glocked" brass issue that is common to 40 cal glocks. If so, how much reliability am I giving up by switching to a tighter chamber? I definitely want to reload and I've found the thread on fixing glocked brass, but I was wondering if going to a KKM or something similar would let me avoid the issue all together. I don't plan on shooting lead and I've been completely happy with the stock barrel in my 34, I've just heard that 40 is much more prone to bulging brass. What do you guys that shoot 40major glocks in limited do?
  19. +whatever Mine did that without much dremeling at all. It's had at least 5k rounds through it since then without a single G18 incident or anything of the kind.
  20. Yeah, I thought about adding Option C. Shoot production another season and buy a 2011 next year. I ended up buying the G35. It was such a good deal at $500 flat with 5 mags that I figure I can get my money back out of it if I end up not liking it. That said, I think I'm going to like it. I've got mag extensions on the way, and after another paycheck or two I'll be sending to Charlie Vanek for some trigger love. Then I just need a set of Sevigny Competition sights since that's what I'm used to on my 34. I think I'll be able to start shooting limited after the double tap in march. Now to search the reloading forums and find a 40 major load. Thanks to everyone for the input.
  21. +2 Do both. I do a lot more dry fire, but I like using my airsoft to set up mini courses in my garage. Practicing with airsoft also really helped me see my sights lift. The slide rocks so much slower on an airsoft gun that it's really easy to see the sights come back and forth on every shot. After practicing with my airsoft a lot, I started noticing the same effect on my competition gun. I would rather practice reloads with my actual gun than with my airsoft. The magazine are the exact weight I use in competition, and there's really no benefit (that I've found) to doing them with the airsoft gun.
  22. I know both of these platforms are viable. I've been shooting a glock 34 in productionf or several months, and have wanted to move up to limited for a while. I've got a couple of good choices for limited guns in front of me right now and I'm not sure which way to go. A: Glock 35 - Bone stock, 5 hi cap mags, $500 I'd have to buy mag extensions and I'd want to add a mag well and a very good trigger(probably Vanek) I'd probably also replace the barrel so I could shoot lead and have less "glocked" brass. B: Para p16-40: stock, 3 high cap mags, $750 I'd have to get a couple more mags and also purchase the extensions to make them all 140mm, then I'd probably add a mag well and starting learning to shoot a 1911. I might also have to send this gun in to make it run reliably(no reports of jams, but who knows), whereas I can pretty much bet on the glock being 99-100% without any trouble. I don't want to start a "which is better" thread. I know they're both very viable options. I just want to know what to expect in switching if I decide to go that way. I'm familiar with the glock and I shoot my 34 pretty well, but I'm envious of 1911 triggers and am curious about the difference in muzzle flip. Has anybody made this change? My glock is the first gun that I've really learned to shoot well. How hard is learning a new platform? I'm also on a budget, so anybody who has started shooting a para recently and knows about what it would cost to get mags etc feel free to chime in. Thanks. **Mods, sorry to post this in the wrong forum. I just realized it and can't seem to delete so I can repost. Please move me over to Guns and Reloading Questions. Sorry for the trouble

I had a couple of down weeks after last months matches, and I didn't get nearly as much practice as I should have. The weather here has been horrible lately so I haven't had much chance to live fire, but there's really no excuse for not dry firing. I got good dry fire sessions last thursday and friday because I had matches on saturday and sunday. Saturday I shot fairly well, but I had some mikes and no shoots. My trigger control was noticeably worse than it has been, probably because of the lack of live fire practice for a few weeks. I've got a couple hundred rounds left over from the weekend so I'm going to be sure to spend a day on the range next week. The movement drills I've been doing are definitely paying off. I've shaved a lot of the non-shooting time out of my runs. My reloads are also getting a lot better. The reload/box to box drill I started doing has made my moving reloads MUCH smoother, but I still have a long way to go. Sunday I shot 3 very good stags and 3 pretty bad stages. On one of the stages my last shot was at a full size pepper popper, I called the shot dead center and stopped shooting. The popper rocked back like it was going to fall, then rocked forward and stopped. I had already dropped the mag out of my gun(stupid) and I made the mistake of fire the last round in the tube at the popper AND I MISSED(DOH!) So not only did I add 5-10 seconds to my time, but I didn't even get the make up points for the shot. I've always shot strictly with competition in mind, so I've never really practiced stopping and checking around me before holstering my gun or unloading. I'm thinking it's probably just as valuable a practice for competition, even if the occasions on which that type of make up shot is useful are very rare. For good news, all my classifiers were pretty solid this weekend, which is a change of pace. Lately I've been running field courses really well because of all the movement I'm practicing, but my classifiers have sucked since I got my initial classification. I assume it's because I felt pressured since I set the goal of moving to B class by march. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but if the classifier calculator is on I will probably be moving up this month. I was hoping to be in the running for high C production at the double tap championship, but I'm glad to be making progress as a shooter. I'm going to build myself some airsoft targets for my garage on friday. I've got an idea for an airsoft IPSC target that will be cheap and easy to use. I'll post some pics and let you guys know how they work out. Anybody know a cheap way to build a plate rack?

    Mag. base pad help

Sounds like a plan. Having a few extras in case of malfunction or reshoot could never hurt.
