  1. I got to shoot the Beretta at the FNH 3 Gun. Initial impressions are very positive. The gun is lighter than my VMT and kicks a little harder, but felt softer than an M2. The Beretta is lighter than my friends SLP but the recoil of the Beretta felt better to me. Even though I am shooting a VMT I do like a light, responsive shotgun and the Beretta defiantly was that. I liked the 24" barrel model the best, and with a long tube it is going to be a hot ticket in 3 Gun.

The opening of the loading port was good, it could be bigger but I bet a lot of people will be happy with it out of the box. The lifter was not at all like the 'devils pitchfork' that came on my Versa, and the placement of the enlarged safety was excellent.

All in all I was very impressed and I think Beretta has hit the ground running with a winner. My son liked it so much he has decided to get one rather than a Versa. Time will tell but at first glance I think it's a great shotgun.

  2. Last year we just showed up and shot the side matches in our down times as RO's. You should be able to shoot the side matches in your down time also. Morning or afternoon.

This is not a 'side match' for the FN 3 Gun. It is a USPSA pistol match that is running concurrently with the FN match. Separate registrations and different people running it.

  3. 3"h & 1"l still puts you in the a zone at 50 yards with a center hold and will hit any steel plate I've ever had to engage at a match. I have yet to shoot a match were you would need the gun to hit more closely to point of aim than that.

My Versa hits 9" right and very low at 50 yards. I had to put a rear sight on it to make it usable with slugs.

  4. We're flying into Reagan International from Oregon. Everything I've been able to read online implies that flying into Reagan

with guns and ammo should be no different than any other airport. Anyone know if that is NOT the case ?

    Thanks, Jerry

You'll be fine. Reagan is actually in Virginia, not DC, so no worries with your guns.

  5. The VX6 is a great scope that only lacks a decent 3 gun reticle. If anyone at Leupold had the sense to put the JM-1 reticle in it they would have a 3 gun winner. Alas, the SPR reticle that comes in the Multigun model is another classic case of the marketing people giving us what they want to sell, not what we want to buy.

  6. I think your barrel spec is a really bad idea but if it's what you want you can buy an 18" rifle gas barrel from Wilon Combat http://shopwilsoncombat.com/Wilson-Combat-Match-Grade-Barrel-556-NATO-Special-Purpose-Rifle-18-1-7-Twist-Stainless/productinfo/TR-556SPR18/ and then send it to ADCO and have them cut it to 16" and flute it for you.

The problem I see is you want a barrel that will be at best borderline reliable, in a sport that really punishes unreliable equipment. The barrel you want will gain you nothing over a 16" mid length with an adjustable gas block. Just out of curiosity, is there some advantage in performance you believe you will gain with this configuration, or is it just an attempt to be different for the sake of being different?

Edit to add... When you say full length gas system, do you mean a rifle length system, or the 11" system that Knights Armament has developed for some of their guns?

  7. Adams Arms 16" mid length. It seems heavy to me but I never notice when shooting it. I just don't see the need for more than a 16" barrel. There's nothing wrong wilt running an 18 or 20" barrel, I just don't think it really gains you much. Assuming you have a rifle that is accurate, hitting at long range is all the shooter, not the rifle or how long it's barrel is.

  8. I have used one this year and have been quite happy with it. The only issue I had was no matter how tight I installed the tube in the receiver it would back out slightly when shot, I would have to reach up at the start of each stage and snug it back down. So I took it all apart, cleaned the tube and receiver and then reinstalled the tube in the receiver with a little red lock-tite. Problem solved.

  9. You have three choices. Live with it and try to compensate for it by aiming left, send the gun back to Remington, others have done this and Remington seems to have a pretty good record of correcting the point of aim issue. Lastly, have the gun adjusted by a gunsmith. My VMT hits right almost exactly the same as yours. After the season is over (FN 3 Gun for me) I will be sending it Triangle and having them bring the POI to match the POA.

  10. I really like the reliability and ease of cleaning on the M2

I really like the reliability of the Versamax, and as for ease of cleaning, I shot my first one for 9 months and never cleaned it. Doesn't get any easier than that!

  11. I guess my question is what problem are they trying to solve by limiting mag length? I doubt this change is competitor driven so who is pushing it? With Surefire, Magpul, Nordic, Lancer and others all offering longer mags or mag extensions I doubt it's sponsor driven. I think most would just like to know why the change, what are they trying to accomplish?

  12. First time seeing a Benelli Vinci being used at the Colt/Peacemaker 3 Man 3 Gun last weekend. I didn't get much of an up-close look but the shooter using it didn't have any issues that I saw, and man was it a sharp looking gun!

  13. Buy a Versamax Tactical and then send it to Triangle Shooting Sports and have them open up the load port and weld the lifter. Add a +2 cap and you're ready to run. Later you might want to add the Carbon Arms one piece magazine tube, I did and it is very nice, but not a mandatory upgrade.

  14. If you want to run the lightest spring possible Nuke8401s advice is good. Get two of the same spring, cut one to 10" and test. If it still runs cut to 9" and test again. Repeat until the gun stops feeding. Then cut the second spring 2" longer than the first when it failed.

When I put the the Carbon Arms mag tube on my Versa it had a +1 extension and I cut the spring to 12" past the end of the tube. I later changed to a +2 extension which reduced the length of the spring past tube to about 9". I did not replace the spring and have had no problems.
