A little wobble between the upper and lower is not any problem at all. On the other hand a tight, rattle free fit does 'feel' better.

I shot a six stage shotgun match today and my last stage was an all slug 15 shot field course. So I loaded my tube with 9 slugs, 2 Winchester and 7 Federals. Then loaded my pinwheels. As I placed the last shell in the pinwheel something caught my eye, there was a 00 on the side of the shell.
Further inspection revealed I had grabbed buckshot instead of slugs and i had a total of the two rounds of Winchester for slugs. I put my score card last and as each shooter in the squad finished I scrounged a slug or two from them. In the end I had enought to shoot the stage, but my gun was loaded with at least four different brands and power level loads of slugs.
At the buzzer the gun functioned flawlessly and I shot the stage with a mixture of pops, booms and bangs. I love this gun!

Doesnt a 24" barrel put you in open class?
Now that I think about it there could be a few outlaw clubs out there that might still limit barrel length, I recall seeing something about it in another thread.
-
Barrel length has nothing to do with division.

How does one determine how much to trim from the spring? I have the 9+1.
Thamks
Rule of thumb seems to be 12" longer than the end of the tube. I trimmed mine 13" just to be safe and it works great.

Sent my gun to the Hills at Triangle.

I do not believe ADCO does shotgun work, although their AR work is excellent.
-
Also highly recommend Triangle, they worked on my gun. I did not know you guys did choke tube installs.

Who ? Briley. Cost? Whatever they want.

If you're going to have classifiers then a mandatory one should be the 50yd dash. Athletic ability is much more a part of three gun that any of the pistol sports, any classification system that ignores this fact will fail to establish an accurate system.

That is from last year. I am tryi.g to do them again but haven't heard back from the t shirt company yet. Hold on the shirt orders till first match.

Another question. There's an order form on the Topton web site for t-shirts. Do you need that ASAP, or can we turn in the order at the Topton match? Thanks, Tim

The second or two gained by being able to spray close range clays quickly disappears the first time you have to fire 3, 4, or 5 shots at a hard set plate in a texas star. I've seen it happen so many times. LM for me in my gun.

Also how far past the end of tube should the spring be cut at?
Prevailing opinion is in it's relaxed state the spring should be 12" longer than the tube.

Why fix what isn't broken (no punt intended), one pellet hit/chip counts in clay target. As much as we like to think otherwise, the 3 gun market isn't big enough for clay bird manufacturers to add another market-specific product.
I don't disagree to a certain point, but we fix what isn't broken all the time. Innovation is what drives everything forward.

We shoot 4" steel plates on stands that are attached to a steel cable so they only fly a couple feet.
I have never seen this done but it is a great idea.

Thanks for the quick answer.

The only drawback is they fly really far when you hit them with slugs. Don't ask how I know.
I somehow managed to be hit by major shrapnel last year from shooters who engaged plates with slugs, twice, one of them bad enough to scar.

Metal discs would work, but the smaller and lighter they are the farther they would fly when knocked off the stand and the longer it could take to reset a stage. One of the big advantages of clay targets is fast target reset, grab a hand full and replace them, no searching for, and picking up plates. Metal plates do have the advantage of long term economy, only having to pay for them once. Clays have the advantage of not needing to worry about bounce back, so you can place then anywhere, at any angle to the shooter.

The thread about what counts as a broken target got me to thinking. Wile there is nothing wrong with the traditional clay target it is designed to do a number of things that are not really necessary for a static target. Holding up to the stress of being launched into the air at high speed being the most obvious.
What might be better would be a simple clay disc four to five inches in diameter. Because structural integrity is not needed for a static clay target the disc could be just a few millimeters in thickness, with a very brittle makeup. Think of it as a giant NECO wafer. Also with a perfectly flat facing such a target would readily show damage from even one or two pellet hits. It would also be easy paint the flat face just about any color at the time of manufacture, or could even be left plain black. Another advantage is that much less material would be needed to make the target, potentially lowering the price if made in large enough quantity.
Perhaps with the popularity of three gun the timing is right for a target manufacturer to step in and offer a three gun specific clay target. What do you current match directors and organizers think?

Quick question. The application lists two days for the match at Peacemaker. Do the teams need to attend both days? It's not a problem, just wondering.

Tim, let me check on the tubes. Nuts may still not be ready, but tubes should be.
Have you contacted Glenn to let him know you need one ASAP?
All funning aside. Benelli-Rockcastle is less than a month away, are the one piece tubes going to be ready any time soon? I need to get something on my gun in the next week or so.
Tim
You know, re-reading my post I really came off as a dick and that was not what I had intended. Sorry to all if I offended.
As for Glenn, I talked to him today, super nice guy and very helpful. Makes me more than happy to wait for his product!
Could Remington build the ultimate OTB 3 Gun Shotgun?

What would it be? My vision would be a 24" Versamax, 10 + 1 single piece tube, loading port already opened up, fiber optic front and express rear, ships with a cylinder bore and light mod choke tubes. If they would build this and hit a price around $1399 who would not buy one?
Your ideas?
