  1. Unless you score the targets and repair them between strings, how could you have a reshoot on just one string? Most COF with separate strings are scored and targets repaired at the end, so if you reshoot one string how do you know what holes were shot on which string. I think you have to reshoot the entire stage, not just one string.
  2. Have you shot a gun with the 25 lpi checkering? I have two single stacks, one with 20 and one with 30, and I prefer the 20 by a wide margin. The 30 lpi just doesn't feel like it adds much to the handling of the gun. I am not familiar with stippling, but have grip tape on my production gun and looks aside, I think it handles better than the finer checkering.
  3. I have three sons, and when they were younger I used to help at a youth small bore rifle league. In most cases, a novice female shooter would progress faster than a male with similar experience. I don't know if it had something to do with maturity, not having anything to "prove", or what, but almost without exception the girls were easier to instruct and progressed quicker.
  4. I don't load a lot of 9mm, but had a keg of 700X left over from my trap shooting days and have used it for 9mm minor production loads. It is bulky so there is not much empty space left in the case, a little smokey but seems to be very consistant and functions in the XD reliably.
  5. A bunch of years ago, when there was only one division, or maybe limited had just started, I had a "new" C-more put on my open gun. After sighting in, thought it would be well to chrono the load to be sure. It never crossed my mind that my sight was a greater distance above the bore that the open sights were, and had a 130 FMJ drill the top center of the display, blew parts and pieces all over the place, and continue right on through the the whole unit. We were laughing so hard I had to lay the gun on the ground and hold my sides. Kept the shot up unit as a reminder for a lot of years, until it happened again this summer. No good excuses, no good stories, just a brain freeze.
  6. A friend of mine still has molds. He has a part time casting business. PM me and I'll reply with contact info. He uses no scrap in his alloy and they gave me very satisfactory results in the past. I think he uses the magma molds mentioned above. Brian
  7. I would reccomend you purchase two different manuals, Speer is an excellent choice, as is Lyman or several others. Your local gun shop should have some free pamphlets published by reloading component manufacturers, pick them up, and READ them. Pay close attention and load in small batches at first. Keep a log of your loads and take it to the range and write down your observations. These forums can be a huge help. Good luck! B
  8. Jim, We thought it was a great match. Thanks to you and all the workers. Looking forward to the next one. Brian
