  1. Thanks guys He looks young right up until the hat comes off. The hat is only there to keep my head from sunburning!
  2. Revo? Where were you all freakin year man! Nats are over it's time to play with something else . Ran the open gun at steel last night and damn, what a blast (literally). Are you guys shooting both days?
  3. First "stage".... Chrono at 1300! I guess I'll find out how my ammo is affected by elevation and temperture changes
  4. What time is the shooter's meeting tomorrow (saturday)? I've looked around at a variety of sources but can't find anything with times. Looking forward to shooting the match!
  5. More proof that revolver shooters can't count past 6! Wait till you get that 627 and you'll be packing your cigs 8 times I've done the "trigger" disipline a huge number of times. My personal favorites are when you open up your car and there's uspsa targets, ammo, and other shooting related crap in the back, and the reaction you get from some people. Or, taking change out of your pockets at a register and realizing there's brass and/or live rounds in pile. The clerk's face is generally priceless
  6. I'll talk to Master Lee about that and see what can be done. Sweet, if its a 6 incher, you'll have a customer... Thanks Probably two. We were talking about this at the x17 match... I wanted to get a 617 and have the stock 6" barrel's underlug cut off and possibly have the barrel turned down, but if something like this is available with all the work done already... What kind of pricing would we be looking at?
  7. That is a completely wild looking barrel, but it certainly makes sense.
  8. I like my chances of coming in third or better! ...really though where are all the wheelgunners?
  9. HOLY SHIT LOOK OUT HE'LL BE DRIVING! The roads are no longer safe Happy birthday Craig and 'grats on your performance at the match!
  10. Direct download from our website (complete with ALL the results this time! ...I think ) is now available! http://kingofrevo.com/files/Three%20Days%2...03-5%202009.zip If you are experiencing any issues with this link please let me know. Thanks
  11. I opened (and unzipped) the file but no results from friday's steel match???? Well crap. I managed to not included in the .zip Sorry about this everyone, I don't have my laptop with me today but I will get the steel match scores up around 5:30pm.
  12. What was your charge of red dot and what length were you seating them at? I'm a recent inductee to the whole short colt thing and "worked up" a load with N310 and 158LRN that seems extremely promising, but I have a boatload of e3 to burn... and in speaking with an Alliant tech, and from my loads in other calibers, e3 is essentially the same thing as red dot but cleaner with slightly less smoke.
  13. Craig that was an average of all three day's scores. You were the winner of the x17 match, got 95.367% of the second match, and 100 of today's, which averages to 98.4557. Cliff got 95.9319, 100, and 99.534, which averages to 98.4886. I guess in reality it's not "98% of overall match points" but rather "an average of each day's percentage of match points earned". We actually just calculated it off the total. Does that make any more sense? I'm more than half dead at this point and that's the best way I can think of describing it.The only way someone would earn an average of 100% is if they flat out won all three matches. ...and with the way you've been shooting lately Carmoney and Cliff "THONG MAN" Walsh should watch out next year!
  14. Shawn, please see my edit above and go to the Iowa Shooter Yahoo group: http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/IowaShooter/ Go to the files section and look towards the bottom, the file is called "Three Days of Revo - July 3-5 2009"
  15. Hey everyone, The scores from this weekends match can be found here on the OOPS Yahoo group, Iowa Shooter: Edit: apparently they do not allow direct linking. Please visit the following link, go to the files section, and look for a file called "Three Days of Revo - July 3-5 2009". It is a .zip containing text files with all scores broken down by day, division, stage, and final results. Friday's steel match scores are in an Excel spreadsheet also included in the .zip. You may have to register to download this file, but I will have it posted on our own website, kingofrevo.com later tonight. The King of Revo overall winners are as follows: Irons: Cliff Walsh Optics: Phillip Tappe Junior: Sarah Irish These scores were calculated by combining each person's overall percentage for each day. The battle for iron sight King of Revo was incredibly close -- Craig Tappe was a *very* close second with 98.4557% of total available match points v. Cliff's 98.4886%. Talk about a tight race! The match was a ton of fun and with how well it was received... well, can't wait to see you all again next year! Mike and Jay, the RO's - Brad, Earl, Curtis, and Brian, and everyone who helped build... thank you all for making this match happen. It was a hoot! Sam
  16. Great match today, everyone. It was cool to see so many people from so many different locations all gathering up to blast steel! I should be able to get the scores uploaded to our website, http://kingofrevo.com/ , in the near future. The forum will not allow excel files to be uploaded as an attachment, or I'd post them up right now. See you all tomorrow!
  17. You went back and snagged it huh? Did he forget what price he was asking again??? I couldn't help myself, I had to take a pic of that retardedly overpriced ruger I really wanted to check it out but I didn't want to waste my time with someone who is asking so much over what it's really worth.
  18. Damnit Mike you're too quick. I wanted a 5"
  19. I just didn't like going back and forth between the fairly large CMC basepads and the fairly small Wilson basepads. Just that 1/4" or so makes a big difference when you're shooting them back to back, which I've done at the last few matches. I may actually take and grind them down to be the same length as the CMC pads, who knows. I'll have to get them in hand before I make that call.
  20. Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like they'll work just fine for me... and if they don't I've got a Dremel that's no stranger to gun parts . SteveJ - I've got a few standard Wilsons for situations like you described. Good idea!
  21. Thanks for the quick reply. The main reason I'd like to get those mags is because I run CMC Shooting Star mags on another gun and like how they feel. I've had a couple issues (on the clock, no less :-/ ) where I didn't seat the mag fully because I'm used to the length of the CMC mags. It's not a huge difference but it certainly does seem to matter.
  22. Before I buy more mags, I was wondering if a 5" 1911 (sti trojan) with a S&A magwell will fit in the box using Wilson mags with Wilson's own extended baspads. Anyone know off the top of their head?
  23. I'm not running a shockbuff and the ejector looks fine to my untrained eye. I can take pics tonight.
  24. I recently jumped headfirst into the singlestack world and ended up with two nice guns - A worked over Kimber in .40 and a STI Trojan in .45. The Kimber has been running wonderfully. The STI, however, has been giving me a headache trying to figure out what the heck it's doing. I've never really dealt with 1911s before this so bear with me. The STI is frequently extracting a case and slamming it back into the slide/top of the chamber. The slide is locked back when this happens, and only on the last round in the mag. I'm using Wilson 47ds and running fairly warm ammo - it chrono'd at 179PF. I'm not sure what recoil spring is in the gun at this point but have a feeling it's either 14 or 16lbs. I did buy the gun used, I'm don't know what the previous owner had in there. It happens on a number of different mags so I don't think that's the issue. I've tried it with the aformentioned Wilsons, 10rd CMCs, and 8rd MecGar mags all with the same result. The strange thing is it doesn't happen consistently - sometimes it'll run beautifully but other times it'll smash the hell of of brass every time you run it dry. And it's a bear to get out. What the heck would cause this and how do I fix it? Is something buggered up with the extractor or ejector? I'm not familiar enough with 1911s to spot something out of whack right off the bat, but nothing seems to be obviously wrong. I did a little test at the recommendation of another shooter and with the slide off, a case fits snugly between the breach and extractor -- rotating the slide around in all directions it held the case there. But when pushed from the side it fell out fairly easily. Any ideas?
