  1. I think the original poster was talking about the Big Dawg steel match.  There are about 4 of us on this forum shooting it for the first time since it has moved to our range.  From what I understand, it's 15 courses with the plate racks being shot 4 times at each course.  That's 60 draws for the match.  I'm thinking the holster might make a difference in this case.  It's different from anything that I have shot before.

  2. How hard is to load the server when you have a USPSA course that states all mags/moon clips must come from the table at the start.  Do the moon clips have to overlay each other in some special order?  I use my revolver mostly for USPSA and we see this from time to time.  The idea of reaching for the moon clips at the same location sounds promising.

  3. How could that be any faster?  On the Ghost, the gun is clear of the holster in about 1/2 inch.  That looks like it would a good 2 inches.  I don't think that I could be any faster(or slower in my case) with either of them.

Whats the charge for the v5 upgrade if you send yours back ??

70 bucks plus shipping.  I put it on my 627 and took it to the range.  The dot is much brighter in full sunshine.  I had to have the glass replaced also from my carry optics gun induced damage.  I  have 2 v4's on my open guns.  I'm not sure that I will send them in to be upgraded.  Open guns seem to be not as hard on the optics...

If its a discussion about why CO is taking off at the cost of other divisions I think the answer is this

Open= super fast super cool, BUT finicky, expensive guns that need special ammo

Limited= pretty fast pretty cool, BUT sort of finicky expensive guns that need special ammo and iron sights are hard

Production= not as fast not as cool, Iron sights are hard, minor scoring But affordable reliable guns and whatever ammo

CO= almost as fast as open, affordable, reliable guns, whatever ammo, optics are easier BUT minor scoring

When you break it down CO really is the most bang for your buck

Good post.  The  only thing I would add is that the carry optics red dot scopes are still a weak spot.

  6. I just got my RTS2 back from C-More.  I had them update it to V5 while it was there.  Dot does seem crisper, buttons now have a slight clicking feel, and it goes to sleep in about five minutes.  It wakes up when you pick up the gun.  If it holds up, I think it's a winner....

  7. Hey Professor,

Just a quick note to say thanks.  I followed you article and finally finished my Accu Shadow.  I wouldn't have tried it without your help.  Trigger pull is now 1lb 15oz single action and 4.5 lbs double.  Being as the gun was already  a CZ custom, I was amazed by the improvement.

    Thanks again...

  8. I asked the president and my area coordinator about this in 2016.  Both responded quickly and answered my question. Their responses are below.  Sounds like they should now be open to talking about it by now.  I think this was before they announced the higher capacity for CO.

I pitched this to the board in January, and again unofficially since then. As of now, it is a no go. Email your AD for sure, so that I can get support for this. The driving factor was that we didn't allow anything without a reciprocating slide mounted optic on it. Thanks.

    Skip,
I completely understand the desire for not so young eyes to use a dot.
The board did discuss this but felt the division needed to get settled in before considering a change like this. I am sure it will come up again and now that I know your thoughts...I will make sure it comes up again.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts

  9. I mix up a 40/40/20 solution of Kroil/Hoppes #9/Slip 2000 carbon killer in a needle bottle.  I put this in the comp and let it soak over night.  The next day I put some Slip 2000 on one of these big q-tip gun cleaners and  wipe it out.  This will take out about 90%.  Once in a while I use one of these brushes in my Dremel on the lowest speed.  One of the local guys told me about spraying Dillon case lube in the comp before shooting, it  helps too.  I know it doesn't need all of this, but I'm retired and have some free time to tinker....

  10. Hate to be negative here.  I don't think it will bring in any new shooters.  USPSA is now a high capacity game.  Look at the growth in PCC and Carry Optics.  I enjoy putting a red dot on my 627 and shooting open from time to time.  I don't see me investing any more  money so that I can now shoot major.  I think revolver has gone the way of the manual transmission.  There will always be some guys out there that like them, but I don't see a path for any growth.
