    I'm enjoying this thread...

Do any of you other revolver shooters have zero interest in the auto divisions?

Last time I shot limited with an automatic I found it boring.  I've tried all of the platforms and enjoy revo the most.  My open and L10  classifiers were shot with a revo,  same with most all of the LTD ones.

I bought a CZ Custom Shadow and have it set up for carry optics.  Big change.  Going from 8 rounds to 23 round mags makes the game much easier.  The red dot is a huge plus  for my 66 year old eyes.  It's a nice change of pace and I'm enjoying it.  I'll still pick up the revolver from time to time...

  2. Thanks guys.  That is exactly what I am looking for.  I have CZC SP-01 Shadow that I just bought and is at CZ Custom for the red dot sight milling.  I would like to pick up a stock one and tune it up myself, just for a retirement project.  I'm new to CZ's, so I have a lot to learn.

  3. I have an RTS2 currently.  I went out and picked up a DPP so that I could compare them directly.  The DPP has an odd switching arrangement, the single switch is in front of the lens.  To adjust the brightness you must toggle up and down the settings while you finger is in front of the lens.  A bit cumbersome, but a not a huge deal.  The DPP was shorter and about the same width.  The steel guard on the outside made it seem a bit bulky, but very well protected.  The dot on the DPP seemed more orange to my eyes.  The RTS2 dot was more red to my eyes and easier to pick up.  The RTS2 switches seem to be slightly easier to use.  The lenses seemed to be about the same to me.  The RTS2 also seems to be less bulky and presents an easier to process sight picture.

I returned the DPP and got a second RTS2.  I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

  4. I went ahead and ordered a dovetail mount for the RTS2, it sits up fairly high.  I couldn't find my copy of Steve Anderson's book, so I ordered a new one.  I've been dry firing about fifteen minutes a day with the new setup.  Indexing on the strong hand side of things is going okay, weak hand is gonna take a bunch of work...

    Thanks

  5. My SP01 slide won't be back from CZ Custom for 8 weeks.  I have another slide on my SP01 so that I can dry fire it.   I have a dovetail mounted RTS2 on my Glock 34.  Should I start dry firing the Glock to get used to the red dot or spend more time getting used to the SP01?

    Thanks

  6. I've shot mostly single stack and revolver for the past 8-10 years.  I've decided to try CO now.  I just bought a CZ Shadow and sent the slide in to be cut for the optics.  I didn't find any plastic guns that I liked.  I think that it's gonna take a while to get used to it.

sidenote - even though it's out of reach $$ wise for alot of people, this is really where a dillon 1050 shines. Setting the primer depth on the machine makes life alot easier for a revolver shooter.

So, if  you had a 1050, you would set all of the primers to be set to specific depth regardless of brass manufacturer?  What depth would you use to set up the 1050?  I kind of wish that I had gone with the 1050 instead of the 650.  Just curious about this..

  8. Just curious. When you guys say open revolver, do you mean a revolver with ports and major ammo?  I only have a 627 or a 929 with a RTS2 sitting on top.  Would ports or a comp make any difference when shooting minor loads?  Leaving the comp on the 929 doesn't seem to do much.  I'm shooting TiteGroup with 135 gr bullets.

Make sure you share you thoughts with the prez and your area director.  Mine both responded to my emails rather quickly.

  9. I contacted Mike at USPSA this morning and have already heard back. Win or lose on this, it's good to see that they are willing to listen and respond. He said that the had pitched this to the board in January and again unofficially since then, but no go. The main problem was with the reciprocating slide. He did suggest contacting my AD about this, which I will do..

  10. I view the change to the 8-shot as more positive than negative. The switch to 8-shot brought me back after dropping out for a few years. Sure, I had to invest some money again, but that's just part of the game. Golfers buy new clubs, tennis players buy new racquets, it happens in every sport when something new comes along. I think it's time to move forward on this, if someone has better ideas on how to improve things I'm all ears.

Now if we could get them to add revolver to carry optics, I'd be a happy camper.

  11. Hi All,

I just got my new XL-650 this weekend. I bought it set up for 9mm, but I'm ready to get the pieces to load .38 short colt. I already have the Lee Short Colt die set from my old 550. Is this the proper list of goodies?

    • .38 special caliber conversion
    • Dillon large pistol case feeder plate
    • Purple .40 case feeder adaptor

    Thanks,
