  1. I too have the same gun. I loaded up a test batch and fired 10 rnds. I got around the same velocity but with a 115 gr bullet. Temp was 52 degrees. 10 gr Major Pistol 115 HAP @ 1.160" 10' to chrono. I also shot my WAC load that got me the 170-171 pf I expected.
  2. I might... except probably skip the Wilson. We don't like what we don't like. I'm already trying open. About to list another gun too. Got any more comments?
  3. I'd buy this before going with a WC. Dan Wesson's CS is top notch. If I was looking for a factory gun to shoot SS this would be it! Plus you could have 2 for the cost of one Wilson.
  4. Awesome to hear. I've not heard anything but great reviews!
  5. Thanks for the input. I should have mentioned I'm shooting 9 major. I will be developing a load soon. Currently, shooting 7.0 WAC w/124 PD JHP @1.165".
  6. In other divisions it's my belief that most mods or upgraded parts (e.g. trigger, sight, steel guide rod) don't really make much difference. At least not significantly. Yes, a better trigger is helpful when you have a horrible one but for the most part even that is not keeping anyone from winning. Time and money usually are better spent on ammo and practice! So, in a division like open where the entire point is to maximize every benefit from gear, my question is, is it any different? I mean, assuming the guns run, I'm thinking a sight tracker barrel vs a standard barrel is isn't gonna make any difference in stage runs. I know very little about open. I'm not afraid to ask questions. I know I like it from the little I've shot. Trying to decide if I'm gonna go all in for open. I started out in production then moved to Limited, then to CO and now I'm trying open. Each time I've liked the new division a little better than the last. Open seems to be the most expensive and require the most maintenance/upkeep but I think it may be worth it! Looking into getting a gun built. The sky is the limit on options. So, I'm kinda overwhelmed with the options. Also, let me explain why I'm looking at getting a gun built. I have a CK Thunder. Its been 100% reliable but I believe you need a back up gun. So, looking at the prices for open guns, I contacted a builder and got a quote. The quoted price surprised me in a good way. Just makes sense to go the build route vs buy another CK.
  7. You may consider a build from a custom smith. You may be surprised, that you can get then options you want, for less $! Find a reputable builder and contact them. I have/had guns from all the "botique" builders. They've all been amazing but IMO the prices are a little higher than what you actually get. Buying used is always a good option too! Some may warranty the gun regardless if you're the original owner. May look at that. Just my opinion.... Good luck!
  8. I need to shoot some more open guns! I want to try a middy.
  9. Yes. SV, PT, and plastic grips all fit well. Haven't personally tested a Limcat or CK. Thanks. I'm in the market. Sounds like a good choice.
  10. Ha ha. There's some good awesomeness in this! Even better points. I never thought of it from that point. I just thought it was to protect thier ego! Now that I think about it, it seems even worse. I just always thought of sand baggers like kids from the 80's that would go to the skating rink and would enter in the races with the 10 yr old kids but they are 15. Even if you win, you're kinda a little &#@$.
  11. Sorry. I meant will it fit any 2011 or is it frame specific?
  12. Is the Everglades universal?
  13. Not a bad point. However, I don't mind talking about it. It's like discussing anything else. On that note, I've seen more "sandbagging" than I've seen grandbagging. Which, to me deserves more criticism but If someone wants to stay lower class than they are, that's their prerogative. I want to shoot as I could as I can. That's my prerogative.
  14. Ha ha. I was being serious. Though, I probably didn't say what I meant very well. I don't stop them and ask them. When they're done, and after scoring that run to count for match score, I ask them if they want a reshoot for no score. If they do, I make sure to charge them $3. This is at my club. From what I understand, that's allowed per the rules, or the BOD's ruling to skirt the rules.
  15. Here's a look at all who finished above 90%. 3 of them are classified as U but are all GM's and previous national champs. HK has finished above 95% at the last two and is still only an M in CO. IMO, this should have been addressed since it's kinda stupid. I think you're classification in one division should be the same in all others. At least for pistol divisions. Again, just my opinion.
  16. I'm confused as well. I just looked and it doesn't seem that CO Nats was used as a classifier. Nor was HK bumped to GM. He has finished above 95% at the last two CO Nats and is still only a M.
  17. It would if they didn't have 3 shooters that are all national chanps shooting as U. Not to mention the other 2 M's that should be GM's. But the hhf needed to be raised. I get it CO is a new div so there's gonna be some discrepancies but still!
  18. My understanding is 1 reshoot per classifier (not for March score) is allowed if the shooter wants it. Doesn't have to be due to RO or a mandatory reason. Essentially, it can be because they want to. Am I wrong? I want to be by the book. Or BOD amendments ?
  19. Reshoot is not for score and charge extra $3.
  20. You didn't say anything wrong. I just mean, some folks say it (paper GM) to criticize. Maybe out of jealousy? Sure a few people have reshot classifers multiple times until they got a GM score but that really doesn't seem all that common. At least not anywhere I shoot. I guess those people would be "paper". At my home club if I'm RO'g a shooter anywhere and they have a malfunction, I ask them if they want a reshoot. It's supposed to be a test of skill not how well they maintian their gun or how well their gear works. To me, that's the only reason I think a reshoot should be allowed. Maybe I'm wrong? I don't know but that's how I do it. I shot CM 03-14 Baseball Standards last weekend. I shoot it way too fast. I had time left after each string! A lot of time in some of the strings. I dropped a ton of points. I would have loved to shoot that one again. I could have probably put up a GM score with just one reshoot. But, my gear ran so I didn't even consider reshooting it. If some people want to keep shooting them or did that in the past, it's not allowed now, then that's their prerogative but its gonna show that they're not really whatever classification at matches.
  21. Is it me or is only non M/GM shooters calling others paper M/GM? I've still not seen a paper GM.
