  1. Picked my 3G1 up yesterday and it came in the super cheap plastic rifle case. Mine came with the Tac Latch, JP trigger, NO ambi safety though. Upper to lower fit though is very nice with just a little play. Currently have my Aimpoint CompM2 on it now but, will be putting a Burris TAC30 1-4x24 when it comes in next week. Going to be mounted with a Burris AR PEPR. My fit and finish on the rifle is excellent except the dust cover will not close at all. No biggie since I could careless about it. Also ordered a Stark SE-1 pistol grip, BCM Gunfighter Medium charging handle, and a Magpul BAD Lever. Hope to get out in a couple days to sight it in.
  2. Just ordered a Burris Tac30 1-4x24 with the PEPR mount, a BAD lever and a BCM Gunfighter charging handle from MidwayUSA. Nice promo code 40 bucks off if spending over 300.
  3. Yeah I thought about Magpul's BUIS but, the only mount the 3G1 has is on the gas block. NOW I've heard that there is a gas block front sight riser to raise it high enough for the rear sight. I've also heard that the polymer sight holds up relatively well to heat but, who knows. I'm not too worried about the BUIS's now. Think I'll save my money and buy the Burris TAC30 and the Burris PEPR mount.
  4. Only other rifle I have in 5.56 is a Steyr Aug clone, a MSAR STG556 which is heavy for its size and horrible mag changes. My gunstore ordered me a DPMS 3G1 and I fondled it earlier today and it feels pretty light considering its a heavy barrel. I researched it and it seems its a really good bang for your buck for a starter 3 Gun rifle. DPMS 3G1 weight from their website says 7.75 pounds. The STG556 is at 7.2 pounds. Plus the 3G1 with its JP trigger which is AWESOME is tons better than the STG's bullpup trigger.
  5. Might be able to make a trip to Phenix City. I plan to purchase the DPMS 3G1 anyway. Not sure whether I will buy the TAC30 yet or not though.
  6. I want to shoot 3Gun in Birmingham, AL. As far as I know its USPSA. My CZTS in 9mm holds 20rounds in a mag, my Remington 1100 Tactical is stock, and the DPMS 3G1 has a 18" barrel, miculek comp, and possible the TAC30.
  7. Alrighty, guess I would be tac optics then, I plan on irons with pistol and shotgun.
  8. I don't even know to be honest. Whatever I can have fun at. Not a super competitive kind of person. I've got a CZ TS in 9mm, a Remington 1100 Tactical and soon the DPMS 3G1. If I have to shoot Open to use a scope that is fine as long as I can have fun.
  9. What kind of mount do you use with the TAC30?
  10. Yeah I was thinking about this as well. Might just save the 175+ dollars I'd spend on some back up sights and put it towards a Burris TAC30 or something.
  11. Will be hopefully picking up a new DPMS 3G1 very very soon and while I plan to run an Aimpoint CompML2 I would like to get a set of back up irons. The front will have to go on a gas block and the rear I guess doesn't matter. I'd like to get the same company if possible with the same style flip up and down activation. Also I'd prefer if the gas block front sight folded to where it wouldn't get hung or caught on any part of a stage or whatnot. Any suggestions? Or save the money and buy more ammo?

  13. Well one reason to get the Trugrip O Rings is you can get 20 for 10 bucks Brownells wants 72 bucks for 12. Or 6 bucks for ONE!!! Craziness is what I say.
  14. I just got my 1100 Tactical and will be using Slide Glide on it. I read somewhere on here that it works awesome.
  15. Yes it was awesome to see him just take a deep breath and get that last can like it was something he does in his sleep
  16. I've had an Aimpoint CompML2 for probably 9 or 10 years and it has never failed me once. I unfortunately only have the one but, if I ever goto buy another red dot it will be another Aimpoint.
  17. I do know one thing. The Ar15 reloads a helluva lot faster than the STG556. I've got my brother's old post ban bushmaster just a heavy crowned 16" barrel. Maybe I'll just buy the DPMS 3G1 upper and slap it on the Bushy.
  18. Aye he did pump it. And yea I do remember the Home Boy night sights. Hilarious.
  19. So the ranges in B'Ham don't specifically offer 3Gun then? Maybe I should quit trying to buy stuff that I can't use then LOL. I believe it was Heritage that I saw that said they have USPSA/3 Gun. And was the one I was going to visit soon. Do you have to be a member of either of these clubs to shoot the matches? I could pay individual matches but, wouldn't be worth it to be a yearly member I don't think.
  20. Always wanted a Colt Delta Elite and finally found a good specimen a year or two ago. It is an older blued Delta Elite not one of the newer SS models. Only bad thing is now that I own it I don't really want to shoot it. I love the 10mm round but, without reloading it is an expensive cartridge. Right now it just sits in the safe and collects dust. I was initially going to use my MSAR STG556 to do 3 gun but, figured the mag pouches and drills for using a bullpup would be a pain in the butt. I do however wish to hang onto the STG556 because I love shooting it, it just doesn't seem to be a very competitive rifle. The rifle I was thinking of picking up is the DPMS 3G1 to get my feet wet and some good iron sights. For me if a gun sits around inactive for too long it gets sold and something else gun related replaces it. Mostly just rambling but, if you had a firearm that you didn't shoot or rarely shot would you sell it to help fun you a new competition blaster?
  21. I'm in Columbus, MS and have shot USPSA at the Magnolia club in Jackson a couple times. I have just recently found out that there is an USPSA/3Gun club in Birmingham, AL which is a bit closer for me. I intend to visit them soon to watch a match and hopefully get my 3 gun feet wet. Magnolia gun club is pretty nice and was pretty fun the couple times I was there. They have a local GM as well, Bryant Chaffin who was very friendly and helpful to this newbie. I was just about to actually post a topic asking if anyone had shot at the range in B'Ham, AL. Guess I'll see if more reply to your thread instead.
