  1. Wonder if its hard to put lightening holes in the top of the slide as well? Would be cool to have the rectangular style ones on the sides but I don't believe I have the equipment for that. The checkering I don't have a big deal with. In fact I've never really even "noticed" it. I might could raise the grip under the trigger guard and beavertail though.
  2. I went and played with a 4.5" XDm at the local fun shop and while its a nice pistol I don't think I like the grip near as much as the CZ. They did however have a LNIB CZ75 SA only that was like my TS's little brother.
  3. Wanting to differentiate my TS and also lighten and give it better balance at the same time. I was also wondering if anyone knew the process for doing such. I probably have all the machinery and tools at my work. Not sure I really wanna cut my frame myself but, if it saves time and money I might be up for it. If all that is needed is to make sure the cut is 100% true and straight then that shouldn't be a problem. I imagine I could either sand blast where I cut or sand it and the rough edges down with fine grit sand paper.
  4. FINALLY! With a little more patience and running a 1/16" drill bit by hand through the loader I finally managed to get it all assembled. Now I just need to cut off about 1/3 of it and fine tune it so the bolt will stay back all the time.
  5. Yeah I'm still wanting the EZ Loader to work and will try to tap the roll pin into it by itself tomorrow. If it doesn't work maybe I can very lightly spin a 1/16" drill bit inside it or maybe a file.
  6. Yeah now that I look at it all I might just be better off putting an 870 trigger group in it or returning it to stock. I just picked this 1100 Tactical because it was a semi decent deal and all. Figured the roll pin would be the least of my problems. Dave did send me another email saying to use a roll pin punch with a hole in it for the roll pin to sit in. Not sure if that is my problem or not. On the first try I got it all the way thru from right to left side but then it got stuck in the fat tab and no amount of tapping or hammering would get it to go through. Hell at this point even if I go back stock I hope I can get the roll pin back in LOL. I have that feeling in the back of my mind the first time or two I put it in the barrel it will get bent or snap off completely. And I also hear even if that doesn't happen the roll pin has a good chance of breaking and needing replacing every so often. Not sure if I could deal with that LOL.
  7. With the 5.25 out and the XDm getting accessorized, I've been thinking of picking one up and bolting some bits to it. I currently shoot a CZ TS which is pretty much bone stock except for thin aluminum grips and an aluminum magwell. I love the trigger on my TS and the gun is pretty well balanced except that it is kind of a heavy piece. I will definitely be keeping the CZ TS even if I purchase a XDm. My biggest problem is I can't fire the XDm before I buy it. We have no rental ranges around here and for the matter no indoor ranges either I know the 5.25 XDm will be a good bit lighter than my TS and the trigger probably not quite as good. I've owned a couple of the original XD's but that was WAY before I got into shooting competition. Have any of you in this forum shot a CZ before switching to a XDm? Or do you have both and could tell me your pros and cons? Thanks much.
  8. I will send you a PM whenever I hear back from Dave. He told me yesterday he installs them for $30 but that it'd take a couple weeks to get it back to me. Course its not like I NEED the shotgun right now but, it'd be nice to have it done and over with. I sent him an email back wondering if maybe the holes weren't drilled 100% straight or that the fat tab hole is JUST slightly smaller in some way.
  9. Not a bad idea at all. I'll have to weigh my options with the bolt holding open vs not holding open. Thanks for the tip.
  10. Yeah I sent him an email saying the roll pin kept getting stuck on the fat tab part of the easy loader. Just waiting to hear back from him.
  11. Gotcha. I emailed Dave asking if he installs the loaders on peoples trigger groups and asked how much if so. If not, I guess I'll go downtown to our only music store and see if they have some high carbon steel wire that will work. Thanks for the help
  12. Happen to know the size of the music wire you used? Was it like a guitar string or piano wire?
  13. Yeah I put a punch through the loader, carrier and spring clip and then chased it out with the roll pin but, the roll pin kept getting hung up in the fat part of the easy loader. I tried tapping the pin in both sides and it still hung up on the fat part. Maybe I'll try a piece of piano wire or maybe I'll try a gunsmith for this part. I was following that link to the install last night as well.
  14. Took everything apart just fine and got everything filed just so. Get the carrier situated with a punch holding it all together. Get the carrier back on the trigger group and cannot for the life of me get that stupid roll pin all the way through. I messed one up somehow but thankfully had a backup. Tried tapping the pin in behind the punch. Tried going in both ways. Tried pressing it in with a pair of channel locks and pliers. I hate when ya get stumped on something as ridiculous as a roll pin. Guess I'll pray and hope that the only gunsmith in town is still in business. Hopefully he'll have better luck. I also hope I didn't screw up the backup roll pin as well. Sigh, spent way too much time on it and only half way done. Almost makes me wish I had bought a Benelli. Crazy thing is having a friend apply pressure against the roll pin with the punch and still would have problems with getting the roll pin through. It seemed the roll pin always got caught up in the hole of the fat piece. Whether going thru either side it would get hung up. Spent about 5 hours total so far and nothing to really show for it.
  15. Nope it did not come with a rubber bikini cover.
  16. Any suggestions? I guess I could buy a bikini cover as flip up covers wouldn't work but on the small part of the tube.
  17. This guy last bumped his on Sept 14th. Looks like he just wants a Face To Face but maybe you can talk him into shipping? http://www.theoutdoorstrader.com/showthread.php?69766-S-amp-W-M-amp-P-Pro-9-FS-FT
  18. You might try getting a hold of the owner of this one on Ar15.com http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_88/901439_WTS__SandW_MandP_9_Pro_with_upgrades.html
  19. Looks like Bud's Gun Shop has em in stock. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_39_71/products_id/61701
  20. S&W M&P 340 with CT 405's. Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel. There was NO cartridge inline with the bore when I took these pics. I carry this gem everyday all day. And an old beltfed I used to own. Semi only though. Browning 1919A4. Was fun for a short time but, I had 2 of these and they took up too much room and my current car at the time (Nissan 350z) made it hard to get to the range and have fun. MSAR STG556, Glock 19 Gen 4, Glock 26 Gen 3, evil black guns day at the range
  21. Back when I picked up my CZ TS the only magwell I could find was CZ Custom's IPSC model for the IPSC box. It never has really fit all that great. The back of the well hit the checkering on the back of the grip before it was fully "seated". That left a little lip that would catch the feed lips on mags. I finally got fed up with it last night and modified the magwell to sit closer to the gun. Sanded the inside of it and the gun to be a little smoother as well but, it seems kind of jury rigged. Also, the only bad thing is I could NOT get the magwell off the pistol to do a better job at modifying it. The newer ones look like they have a all the way through the magwell to push the mainspring up so you can get it off. Mine has no hole Looking on CZCustom.com the IPSC magwell looks to be updated. The back of my magwell is square while the one on their website seems to be curved to better fit the profile of the grip. Kinda hate to blow another $75 just for a little better fit. Anyone else have the older style IPSC magwell and remedied the extra material on the frame?
  22. Remora. Its crazy how well it stays put IWB with no clips or anything.
  23. Meh I wouldn't worry about a little bit of play. I've owned and shot a dozen Ar15's over the years from pre ban Colt SP1's to post ban Bushmasters to RRA's, S&W M&P rifles and now this DPMS 3G1. They've all had a little play and its never affected accuracy or reliability. Hell, look at some 1911's that are loose as hell still function 100%. From my perspective, the tighter a gun is, the more of a chance something will hang up or whatever. I shot my 3G1 earlier today and only had one instance where it stopped. Could have been a bad round or primer as I was shooting some WLA Russian 223 I think it was. I just wanted to see if it would run the steel stuff in case I wanted to shoot cheaply. But besides that one round it ran very well. I have noticed that the charging handle with this Tac Latch on it has bent a little. Right underneath the tac latch the aluminum is pretty thin and it is bent downward a bit. Hasn't affected anything yet I don't think but, my BCM Gunfighter will be here Wednesday anyway. I need to shoot it a good bit more or oil the buffer spring because it sounds like an old screen door shutting LOL. My only complaint I have with Ar15's is listening to that damn spring. I believe this 3G1 will be a keeper.
  24. I think its actually the detent ball is too far out or, the little area on the upper seems a bit too shallow to allow the ball to move.
