  1. That stinks. I couldn't see the position when the safety officer called muzzle, however I did catch this angle which is a big no no and would have called it right here. That angle is setting up for a big disaster. Hopefully, it won't happen again and you can finish your next match with a great score
  2. I know here in Charlotte and in SC we do get a fair amount of new shooters at the local IDPA matches. A lot of people just get their ccw's and find out that they can actually move while they shoot instead of being indoors looking at static targets. I have noticed that a ton of it is word of mouth (friend of a friend). On average on the summer we have anywhere from 5 - 15 new shooters depending on the locations.
  3. I do have a question about traveling. I am heading up for nationals next week and you make a reference to not keeping your ammo with your firearm. How are you supposed to get your match rounds up there if you cannot keep them in the same locked case as your firearm? I am sure that the officials must know you are coming in to town for the match. I know I had to print a copy of the NRA match form to carry with me.
  4. I have looked at the application and it looks very cool, however I don't shoot uspsa yet. I was actually thinking about developing something for IDPA on the IPhone. I mostly program in the Windows Development area. I do know there is a hugh need for apps
  5. They have a great return policy. I am actually thinking about getting a regular pair for myself as well!
  6. Well if that is the guarantee then I will hit master this year and my first goal will be achieved! YIPEE!! BTW, I will look damn cool doing it too
  7. That really does help tremendously!!! So if I understand you correctly in the case of the El Pres my feet would be centered with the outter targets, however my body will could be positioned towards t1, as I engage T2 (middle target) I will end up in a netural stance (squarded off), then shift my body as one whole using the legs and knees so I can stop on T3. Now in the event of a reload while I am going back to T1 my entire body would shift again back to that target so my NPA would end up on the middle of the target and start over. This would eliminate the swing of the arms which would mimic the "belly button" shift?? Am I on point? I will have to practice this pretty slowly and possibly take some videos and get them posted to be critiqued. TIA!!
  8. Hey Brian, fast question. When you shooting something like an El Prez it is quite typical to start with your toes pointed towards both outter targets, and as you shoot swivel your upper body. Is this how you would shoot it, or would you index your set towards one target and allow your hips to move as well to the second and third target? I am just trying to analyze this a bit deeper with regards to how much time you can save. I do notice that if I move my hips and knees between the 1st and 3rd target I can stop faster on the target. TIA
  9. Have you guys found this to be a huge help? I have never tried this myself because once I am three shooters away I am trying to focus on the stage and my game plan. I am also up for trying new things too
  10. Hey guys, I am from Charlotte. Welcome!
  11. I second that! Go get one today!!! Just from my experience ( I have been reloading for about 3 years now). I was going to start of with the 550 and decided to get the 650 because at that time the case feeder wasn't out yet for the 550. It was WELL worth the money and I grew in to the machine. I know a lot of people will laugh at this but it was taking me one hour to do 100 rounds and now I am up to the 600 - 700 range if I push it, however I like to take my time. If you purchase the reloader from here (which you should ), make sure you look for the "As It Should Be" Upgrade as this is a must!!
  12. Pretty interesting. I might have to give that a whirl!
  13. I will try anything one time and they got me hooked!! Thanks for the hookup... Now only if you guys can clear a few spots on the team for lower level shooters
  14. That is awesome!! Thanks for posting how to do it!!!
  15. OK guys, I wanted to post a great review here. I just received my Genetyk's over the weekend in Black Mat with the Photochromic ImpactX Red lenses. The kit also came with the clear and smoked Photochromic lenses also Let's start with The Packaging - When I opened the shipping box I was surprised to find that there was a professional kick ass box that the glasses came in. On the side of the box was the complete description along with product code Things are starting off really well here for me and my excitement just grew as I was even more curious about what was inside the box. To my delight I opened the box to find a hard case with the glasses inside. This is something that I always want for when I travel to and from the range. I opened the hard protective case to find that the glasses along with the two other sets of lenses were packed in a fitted foam insert. We are at +2 now Moving on to the frame and lenses - Since this is my first pair of Photochromic lenses, I really wanted to see what they were capably of (changing wise due to the amount of direct sunlight). Saturday morning was nice because that it was super sunny (it snowed in Charlotte the day before). I took the lenses out of the cool as hell packaging and brought them out to the back patio where I started with the clear lens first. To my surprise this sucker got dark as hell within the first few seconds. I proceeded with the Red, then followed lastly by the smoke. I have to say that this is one of the coolest thing I have seen. The material on these glass also rock too. I hate when I am at the range and I have to clean my normal shooting glasses because every stinking piece of lint will stick to them. When I changed the lenses in the frame all I had to do was wipe my finger prints off and WOOLA, nothing stuck. +3 I still need to get to the range to test them out.. Range Day - Sunday we had nice weather (mid 40's) and pretty sunny. I started out with the clear lenses and progressed out to 25 yards during my warm up. To my surprise the clarity on these lenses are out of this world. Let's tack on another plus to make it +4. I put on my normal $20 lenses and took them right off and threw them in the trash, LOL. I hardly even noticed that the lenses darkened and it wasn't even apparent to me. I switched off to the Red ones as the day went on and they throw a nice warm color out there which you also forget about after a few minutes. I must say that the Red lenses help you pick up that front red fiber much faster than the amber and the damn thing is as bright as the sun. The last comment I will make here is about the comfort. I love the fact that I can mold the arms to fit comfortably on my ears. Three hours at the range and my nose and ears didn't hurt one bit. Last plus +5 All in all I give these glasses and Rudy Project +5. If you don't own a pair I HIGHLY suggest that you try a pair out. Here are three pictures:
  16. It is funny that you mention moving the body as I did experience that today. I find it much slower to move just the arms opposed to moving the hips as well. If I try to get over to the target as fast as I can just using my arms I will always end up in the 3 zone on the IDPA target, or just out the border of the 1 and 3 zone. It is just bizarre how moving with the hips feels so much slower, but on the time it really isn't and you can get much more consistent results.
  17. Hey Brian, thank you very much! This is VERY helpful!!
  18. Hey guys, I have been trying to improve my transitions times and it is going very slowly. I am running eyes up drills, however I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and was able to overcome this with a or multiple specific drills? TIA
  19. I can tell you that Vanek does a great job!! I have one of his drop in triggers in my glock 19 and in my 34 and shoot in ssp. Very crisp, almost no slack and everything is in tact! +1 on Vanek
  20. Looks very fast! Being that you are starting at the surrender position you can also let your hands hang down loose as as duck suggested keep the elbows in. this will keep you relaxed and in more of a position to burst down to the pistol's location Keep up the good work!
  21. +1 on the Merrells. I used to wear tac boots and they were just too heavy. The Merrells are great for all weather expecially if you get the waterproof ones
  22. Hey big fella, you should relax a small bit . I know the rules. I am passing that information along as I know several folks that got DQ'ed for this very reason as Nationals. The comment that I made was the outcome from a very lengthy debate with Robert Ray and company. I am only passing along what I heard about this on to the good folks here. Like you said, it's not on the list. BTW, smile. It's a new year!
  23. Very confusing to most that read it. Some how it was explained that a slide release stop that extends outward is not the same as a extended slide release. Go figure
