  1. I beg to differ, up close nothing beats iron sights!

I see this as once again a piece of gear that is trying to make up for bad technique. Nose to charging handle creates the low head scrunched shooting technique along with square to the target stock on pec, so now we are going to move the sights higher to make up for it. The closer the sighting system is to the bore, the better off you are, but I know that won't convince any of you bent on spending money on "skill".

  2. I have been using worn out match T-Shirts, cutting them up to fit the rifle and pistol and shotgun bores on jags. I have tried buying white flannel from a fabric store and cutting it to size, but I end up spending at least 5 extra minutes a month on cutting, instead of cleaning or shooting.....so what are the Pro,s using?? I am sure that there has to be a best for 3-gun cleaning patch out there, I just need to know what it is and where to find it.

  3. Saturday is my birthday, by design it will also be the day my beloved M1 will fire it's 300,000 round. The round pictured will be THE ONE!!! I want to really thank Federal Premium ammunition!!! They have given me phenomenal support over the years, and are a large part of the amount of ammunition fired through my M1. I really can't say enough about their ammunition. The consistency lot to lot has been unbelievable!!!!!

Anyway, enough of the love fest, the point of this post is 300,000 round through one gun. It has had 6 recoil springs, 2 carrier springs, one shell latch spring, 12 magazine springs ( I only use Benelli springs here and it is THE ONE they got right). It has had 2 shell stop roll pins, 1 extractor roll pin, 1 disconnector and spring, and the largest thing....one barrel extension, because at 235,000 rounds it broke the bottom locking lug recess. It still ran just fine, but it bugged me! :) I also rounded out a bolt carrier, and it would bounce out of battery occasionally.

    So disconnector and spring......$ 37.00

Barrel extension.....warranty.....and they sure didn't have to! THANK YOU CARTER!!!!

    Bolt carrier......$134.000

    Springs over the years.....$80.00

Am I retiring this gun? Well no! It will be "in the rack" at every 3-gun, Skeet and Sporting Clays match I will be shooting this year. Last year it went to it's 2nd world shoot.

  4. I have been running their TiN carrier in my practice rifle for a while, and all I can say is these carriers are great, plenty light, very easy to clean, and really well plated. I think they have hit a home run with these. I just cleaned mine after 1000 rounds and I spent WAY less time on it than ever before with any carrier. From dirty to completely clean in about 10 minutes for both the bolt and the carrier......DAMN GOOD STUFF!!!!!

  5. Nordic makes really good stuff. Tac Com makes really good tubes that are very easy to configure into different lengths, I would look at them as well.

I don't like tube clamps, but I do like the tube clamp that Tac Com made from my brothers design....it doesn't clamp the barrel. In general I don't run them, but if I had a gun that looked like an on shore casting rig, I would. (Anything past 10 rounds it so)

  6. oSPANNERo I never took your posts as arguing.

Just to be clear, I don't shoot guns for a living. The reason a lot of these mods are out there are due to about 4 guys who really put time in on Benellis and figured out how to really slick them up. I started this journey back in 1995 on the H&K badged M1s. Bevin Graham started around 97, Benny jumped in around 1999, Taran started around 2009. There is a reason that a Triangle gun an Accurate Iron gun, and a TTI gun all have a list of stuff that looks like the others, it is because we all are friends and we all exchange info. Think of this as the good house keeping seal for Benelli. :)

Knowing exactly what Triangle does to a full race gun (in 2001 Benny and I sat down and made a list of all of it), and knowing what the Benelli factory folks were willing to pay for (Taran and I basically speced the gun for Benelli when we were the first guys on team Benelli and they didn't want to pay for all the mods recommend) has given me a unique perspective on what is done to M2 Benelli.

  7. You have bought a Benelli M2 with some of the major mods most people think it needs for a real good deal. I personally wouldn't change my mind, you have done well. I guess my point is don't over think it. Get it and shoot it. If you still have doubts about what is done or not done keep this in mind. Stock Benellis with just a tube added have help the shooters win all sorts of matches. If you find that it needs something else done, it can be done at any time.

  8. Hmmm, you are going to rack up a lot of minutes on the old cell phone calling all these companies to find out what they did.

Or you could spend that money on a case or two of shell and go shoot that cool new gun you bought and figure out what works for you and if it needs anything further or not....hey it,s a Benelli you cant go wrong! ;)

  9. You are right, I won't go into it. I will only say that there are a lot more steps on how internal parts are fit, polished, radiused and tuned that the factory simply won't pay for. Little things like pining the front sight, aligning the tube to adjust poi/ poa, porting the back of the barrel, radiusing the extractor cut......etc. that all go into a full race job, when you send it in.

  10. She is nice isn't she.

Benny stated the "major" difference is the lightened bolt...not the only. ;)

For $1500 you did fine and you will figure out what else you need or want as you go. Great deal!

As to who is building them, I'm sure whomever it is, isn't doing what Triangle did, who didn't do what Briley did when they built them, who didn't do what Salient did when they built them. It is not my place to say.

  11. oSPANNERo, I speced out the "custom shop" gun for Benelli. After a big long list of features they sat down and picked the stuff that they were willing to do for a bulk price, and trust me it was far less work than what was speced out.

Now does that make the custom shop gun bad??? HELL NO!!! They are good guns!! They are just incomplete FOR THE MONEY!!! If I was to drop that kind of coin on ANY gun, I would want it to have everything that could possibly help....not less with cool lazered etching.

As for Triangle, I will let my amigo Benny address this, but he and I always lamented the fact that Benelli wouldn't do more for the price, and I know Benny discounted his work heavily for them. NOT because he was charging a lot for his work, but he really cared that folks got the most they could from the gun they bought, and still does.
