  1. And now for a Teaspoon of sand thrown at the ocean.....you just don't need a fence pole length tube. I know of at least 3 real good 3-gunners that are always in the top ten who run 8-9 round tubes. I have never used over a 9 round tube, and I still seem to do OK, and i still do real weakhand loading.

  2. Reasons for this are many, here is what to check.

    Cracked cam pin.

Cracked bolt tail where cam pin goes in.

Jammed or broken ejector and or spring.

    Broken gas rings

Primer anvil jammed in gas key.....not likely as it usually wont cycle.

    Cracked locking lug on bolt.

Crap jammed under extractor, or bent extractor.

    Something in barrel extension.

    Something in throat of barrel.

  3. Well, I am listed as the "Shotgun lead" on the web site, so it was a nice surprise to read that a shotgun rule had been changed. I get to be surprised with all the rest of you I guess. No one ever asked me anything.

KNIII things aren't "frozen in Amber"! Stick to doing that law stuff, leave the complex molecular changes of lithification, that your primitive mind couldn't understand, to us chosen few of the Geology world......Groovy.

  4. Pashaw!!!! The best steak, bar none, was served to me in Copenhagen Denmark by Peter Anderson, a world renounded chef in his very own restaurant. He is also an IROA CRO and a hell of a shot as well. As he said....rib eye is the best!! Yeah it was the Nordic Rifle Championships, so this may be a one gun steak, but it was the best I ever had!!! :)

  5. Bad science Markco! You may have more scopes, but could you fix the irons you broke? I would find it very hard to believe you couldn't. I know that I have yet to see a "broken" set of irons I couldn't fix with a craftsman tool box set. Not so with an optic!!! Also your paradigm is not correct

You would have to compare how many irons to how many iron breaks to how many optic to optic breaks and I know you have posted.about several optic returns over the last 5 years.....non sequitur for your post!

  6. I had one of these do the same thing. It turns out the holes drilled for the trigger spring to sit in were not deep enough to hold the spring in place on the trigger housing. Took it apart, drilled the triggers housing hole about .050 deeper to retain the spring and all was well.

  7. Ok, ok, ok, first off on a shtf "Rifle" we are no longer talking .223......at least in my world. I want something that will anchor a large Zoo animal. If I can ascertain that a problem exists, it is going to be with good old eye balls as your out and about.....hunting large Zoo animals. In this guise irons will do everything and more. I would proffer that "WIlling", and accurate fire will over come most any casual encounter. If "they" are sniping they will either miss and you can run away or they will hit and you won't need a large Zoo animal.

I have seen iron sighted rifles dropped right on their sights from shoulder high and all they need is maybe a quick re-zero. I have seen quality optics dropped that need to be sent back because broken glass pouring out the end of the tube says " not useful" in so many ways!

  8. I'm really liking my MRO! The dot is very clear, much more than my EOTECHS. I haven't needed more than 4 on the brightest day. It holds and adjusts zero better than any red dot I have owned! BUT....where it really shines is it's two night vision settings. Through night vision the housing can not be seen. The glowing dot just seems to hang there in mid air, and the poa/poi is just perfect. So far I can claim 3 head shots on pigs at the 50-75 yard range and anything closer isn't even fair. Mine is living on a 458 Socom with the high mount and hasn't drifted zero nor loosend and it has around 150 rounds on it. It is my new favorite red dot and I will own several more!! Carnitas baby!!!!!!!!?:)

  9. Exit pupil diameter is the term you are trying to use...."eye box" sounds so tawdry. Find out the diameter on 1x and on your highest x for your given optic. (Usually you can get this from the manufacturer). Next look at the recommended eye relief and set your scope at the far end of this value. Next move the scope back towards your eye the amount of the greatest exit pupil diameter. You are now at the optimal placement for the optic, for that given cheek weld.....which does have to be rather consistent.

  10. You need a belt for 3-gun???? Hell I need a stiff belt just to get out of bed. I like to start off with Rebel Yell and then smooth it out through out the day and end with Bookers or Blanton's.

Oh you ment something to hold all your gear on you, well in that case it is hard to beat The Wilderness instructors belt. Yeah you have to take it on and off to reconfigure gear, but they will never leave you doing the D.Q. hula dance with Velcro inner/outer belt set ups.

  11. Hmmm, seems to me we won a whole big zombie match in the 1940s with iron sights, and didn't do so bad with them up into the middle 2000s. Now you all act like they never existed, or aren't useful at all. I beg to differ, I good set of iron sights can hang with optics in most every aspect of shooting. It just takes a bit of practice and understanding.......ooopsy, now I get it, NONE OF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE IRONS!!!!! Carry on then!
