  1. Professor of physics. It doesn't help the bullets go straighter, trust me.

    TEXAS STAR

That stage was an SOB for a lot of folks. Once it started spinning, it was like a propeller. It was offset weighted so it would spin faster. I saw several just quit and take the misses and others have to quit because they ran out of ammo. I got lucky and won that stage in L10. That is some evil sh**
  3. A good question. I would just point the gun downrange at arm's length and pick the mag up. I guess the holstering was a reflex?
  4. "A challenge". Nice way of putting it. It was damned near impossible for an old fart like me to function by mid-afternoon. Got lazy about cleaning mags and the gun and malfunctions resulted, to add to the dificulty of shooting while shivering..... but I acheived my goal of finishing, undoubted last. But it was a beautifully run and executed match, I would like to go again when the weather is not so Mars-like.
  5. 155 g Rainier plated flat nose over 4.2 g of Titegroup give 860 fps from my Witness Match for a pf of 133, and is very pleasant to shoot. The Witness likes .40 loaded long, so the OAL is 1.170".
  6. At 4.5 g of TG with 200 g Rainier plated round nose bullets I am seeing about 720 fps. At loads this light in .45 ACP TG burns kind of dirty, but not too bad.
  7. No it is not. First shot must be double action. That is of course correct. I must have missed the part about production. CZ85 Combat then. Rockin' trigger with the competition hammer.
  8. We should not forget the CZ75SA single action only version. A little work and it has a supersweet trigger. Mine breaks at 2-1/4 #, most of which is trigger return spring weight. A great ESP gun, and in .40 a great limited gun IMHO.
  9. The West Texas Regional IDPA will be held in the indoor range at Patriot Firearms in Lubbock on February 21, 2009. Details and entry form are at www.patriotfirearms.com. The date has been changed from last year to try to reduce conflicts with hunting seasons and such, so we hope for a good turnout! MD Tony Mollhagen has designed stages which are scrupulously revolver neutral, and challenging for all classes. Attendees at the last regional should have a discount coupon for this match.
  10. Does anyone know if there will be an online application form, so I don't have to trust it to the USPS?
  11. I agree about setting up indoor stages. Depending on the bays, things get awfully cramped, awfully fast, and you have to worry about pass-throughs hitting equipment or no-shoots, or the ceilings, or the floors, or the walls.... I have set up for our weekly indoor IDPA matches several times, and I don't think more than one or two of my stage designs survived contact with the enemy (the enemy being the bay geometry).
  12. I often strip and clean guns in the bathroom, since that is where the light is best (old eyes, doncha know). I have found that tiny springs are attracted strongly to the sink drain and the totally inaccessible space behind the bathroom mirror....
  13. I would like to add a personal appeal for low level shooters to attend this match, so I have company.....
