Looks for Match

Looks for Match (2/11)

  1. I'm running with Gary on this. And I don't give the benefit of the doubt at any time. The back side of the target holds no attraction for me either, I'm looking for the grease ring or rings and that's going to be on the front...Either it's there or it isn't. I'll pull a target for a scoring issue and not be offended. I want the stage to move smoothly and finish before dark...
  2. Beat feet to the MD or RM. Also step up and call any safety issue - especially a 180 break - and stop the shooter when it happens. You do not have to be holding the timer to call out this range command...
  3. IMO... You need to stop when a problem happens, look at the problem, figure it out before continuing. After all, your stage is already a loss. If it is a magazine problem, do not continue using that magazine during the match. Check the feed lips, spring, follower, et al before using it again. Check ammo OAL. Then look at the firearm for issues - burrs, broken or chipped pieces, whatever... polish the feed ramp, any surface that comes in contact with moving elements and use lube... a dry gun will not run...
  4. USPSA Area 4 had a stage a couple of years ago where the left and right sides had barricades and a fault line set that forced you to lean back and pull/push your gun around the barricade to engage targets. If you were not extremely careful, you could break the 180... that was as close to a 180 trap as I've seen... ;-)
  5. Hello you night owls... I'll miss he too...
  6. My very first experience with this type of course was with International IPSC many years ago... As a USA shooter and NROI CRO at the time, I was flipping out about it being an RO trap and being potentially unsafe for everyone...and had never seen this in the good ole USA matches. However, after discussions with the International RM, MD and other International IROAs I began to see the light. The stage ran without any safety issues and as it turned out I was assigned as the CRO on the stage... So I learned a lot about uprange starts... As mentioned in several of the earlier posts here, it can be just as safely executed as a "normal" downrange running stage. Competitors need to be trained and coached on the proper ways to run with their firearms when encountering uprange starts... And ROs need to be aware of potential traps prior to the start of the first shooter... You do not want to be overrun and stare into a competitors bore... ;-)
  7. The Top Gun program is back for 2015...
  8. I've signed up. But heard nothing yet...
  9. I agree, the fastest way to win is to Call the shot off the front sight or your dot.. Learn to do it this way and move on. If you occasionally end up calling it wrong, practice, practice, practice. Listening for a sound is a waste of time and especially waiting to see if the steel falls. Those are most definitely losing strategies...
  10. I found a simple solution... Just a NSSF Rimfire Club near you. They can get 22lr ammo directly from NSSF at very reasonable prices and it gets shipped directly to your house... It works at Mid-MO here is Missouri...
  11. Not a fan. I'm more interested in being sure the gun is clear and getting to the scoring. It's a time waster...
  12. APPENDIX D5 —Single-Stack Division - Each magazine must be contained individually within the magazine pouch. Magazines may not be retained through magnetic means. And APPENDIX E3 - Diagram of Equipment Position would dictate where any mag pouch or magnets could be placed... However Appendix D5 is clear that magazines may not be retained through magnetic means... before, during or after the COF. So No.
  13. I switched over from 38S nearly 10 years ago to 9mm major. Check out USPSA Classified for Kenny Marx. He sells cleaned Case Proed 9mm once fired brass. That has been my source for years... It is rolled back into factory specs. I usually buy 15K to 20K at a time... FYI...
  14. 550b with Mr Bullet Mini Bullet feeder, Dillon brass feeder, 2lb powder tube and 200 primer tube... 9mm... Started out as a 450 back in 1989. Dillon has upgraded it about 3 times over the years - no charge! except for the conversion to 550b...about $75. Best no BS warranty around...
  15. Shooting their 124 grain in Open gun. Great! Normally used JHP, so far no issues... love them...
