  1. I never noticed that Alchemy made double stacks. They make some beautiful stuff.
  2. Am I the only person left that wants a 2011 that doesn’t look like it was drawn up by a hyperactive 13 year old? I have a STI Tactical which does it for me. Professional, too the point, no fluff. I’m having a hard time with the creative elements of the Staccato or anything else 2011. The slide serrations are silly, too much bling all the way around.
  3. I had a SIG 229 DAO forever ago. My fat, stubby hands could barely reach the trigger. Not blaming the gun. I didn’t do my homework. Does the X5 have similar trigger reach?
  4. Welcome from Texas. This appears to be a good location to find match tactics. It seems a bit slow for weapon specific information. The competition wisdom is great.
  5. There ya go… hope a strut is in there. https://www.ar15.com/forums/ i read further… looks like your trying to make an upgraded part. Sorry to waste your time.
  6. A guy on ARFCOM had some auto mag parts for sale. I’ll try to find you a link.
  7. That’d be my vote too. At least you’d have a solid base to work from. The few times I’ve used SA customer service they’ve been pretty good.
  8. I’ve hade really good luck with 3M machine polish. I’d be worried about rounding things that shouldn’t be round using a dremel or other power tool.
  9. +2 for Tripp mags. I have limited experience in the .40 cal 1911 game but they turned an unreliable.40 into a reliable.40.
  10. I really like the blending of the golf ball front strap with the golf ball texture grips. They almost look like one piece. Impressive work.
  11. Welcome! What kind of work did you do at the matches?
  12. Welcome! I found some good information in the “mistakes” area. DQ’ing terrifies me.
  13. I’m far from an expert. I heard rumors about high round count 2011 frames cracking where the little screw goes in on the front of the trigger guard. I’m pretty sure modern 2011 mags work in the older guns. I have 2 STI’s and staccato mags work great. Older mags were finicky. Staccato is on its 3rd Gen of magazine development. I have 6k rounds through the 2 guns and they have both run beautifully. No issues. They just keep getting smoother. Slides are still tight.
  14. “The bed feeling in ur life” that really is true. I’ve never felt more relieved or accomplished than when removing a broken screw. I’ve had good luck with Hanson extractors and second the quality tools remark. If it’s broken off flush I’d send it to a smith. I’m pretty good at screwing stuff up and that wouldn’t be fun to screw up.
  15. It’d be a lot cooler if you did. Doesn’t hurt to try. There’s a lot of value in being underestimated.
  16. Ha! I understand the social media nonsense. I went vintage with a STI Tactical to avoid the stigma. I’m not saying “never” as the XC is really calling my name but I don’t have much interest in the “P”.
  17. Great thread. I miss projects guns. On a side note, the ejector is the only thing I have ever had break on a Springfield. And I wore out a slide release. I’m glad to see the prodigy is doing well.
  18. I think I’ve run across that post. I’m aware that the X5’s are great guns. How do the compare to say a staccato xl or other 2011. Is that an apples to apples comparison? I grew up on single stack 1911’s and am relatively new to the 2011.
  19. I’m new to the 2011 platform and am finding that at about 200 rounds or so when using a single mag I have to clean. My warning is half way through a mag a bullet will just go wonky and point straight up. I may also need to refresh mag springs. No idea how much use they’ve seen.
  20. Doesdynamic shooting mean 2gun and us Uspsa? I’m a newb and trying to learn my way around. Read the section on not how to DQ lol
  21. I’m a sucker for a good looking flared magwell. I wish I would’ve purchased a German X5 when they were semi affordable. I hear that the newer versions are as good or better but I still live in the 2000’s in my head.
