  1. Every now and then it's ok to have a name but if the stage is based around a scenario then no thankyou. If iI wanted that then I would shoot (unspeakable name). Just my two cents.
  2. This could be good news....
  3. If anyone needs proof that Jake can do the el prez in sub 3 then click on this link. This is Jake doing this. If anyone can do this Jakey boy here can. Don't blame the tiger it was just tired or siegfried's crap. El Prez - Jake Di Vita Watch the timer on the table. Go Jake Go!
  4. I would most definitely go for the bigger of the two A zones. Why go for and area about the same size as a 7-round mag or smaller when you could shoot at a nice big area? If you know where your bullet is going to go then there is no need to sacrifice points on a B hit instead of an A hit.
  5. Gonna take a look later but which article in which issue are we talking about that Avery wrote?
  6. This seems to be the key to getting a good reload and a bumbled reload for me. And whether i'm thinking about the reload, nothing at all, or something like my toe. I also feel that something needs clarifying. When I say my reloads it only seems to be the ones on the move that go wrong. Sorry for not saying this in the first place. Thanks for all the advice everyone! Keep it comin'!
  7. No luck. Closest thing I found was one of his Tim's (1.06). Darn!!! Jake I finally went to your website and holy crap. The el prez and reload are smokin!
  8. I really wish I had it on video too. I see where you're coming from Jake. Had I not seen the timer I would be questioning the run too. I'll see if i can find some proof of it. I'm sure I can somewhere. Let's pray!
  9. You have got to think though. After everything is picked apart and dissected, this is a sport where a tenth of a second will cost you very valuable points. I've seen a tenth of a second as the difference between first and second place. Just my two cents. Don't take this to heart. I'm fairly new and only 15. (Why is it a penny for your thoughts but you have to put your two cents in? Someone is making a penny somewhere. -Steven Wright)
  10. Thanks for the info. I will try to slow my reloads a bit in my next match.
  11. I focus on the target not the sights and over time the unused set of sights just kinda disappeared. I get some weird stares when I say that I am left eye dominant and right handed. It's that look of "How in the heck do you do that?" Maybe I will try the tape thing and see how it goes. The first problem I saw for me is that I don't dry fire with my glasses on in the first place. Maybe i should and put my muffs on too.
  12. He shoots in limited and the only club i've ever seen him at (only club i've ever gone to for local) is Arnold Rifle and Pistol Club. Number is Axxxxx. Him and his brother are very, very good. (Tim). Just looked and he's A class but only 3% from M. Same for L10 but 1%. I know he shot the .89 with his limited gun. The draw is easily doable. .59 draw could easily through hard work and practice be achieved. I know the GM's get it. Heck i'm almost sub .7 draws and i'm only 15!
  13. I believe that when I "feel" like I shot a good stage, I usually do. Where if i feel that I did poorly I have bad hits and slow times. Also my reloads never go as fast as dry fire reloads. (About 1.3-1.5 secs). Help!!!!
  14. It was a three shot stage. His draws are smokin fast too. Wish i had seen it too jake
  15. My record is 6. Might have had more but my sights FLEW OFF on the last shot of that stage. Used a buddy's gun after that.
  16. I am having that problem right now. I had my firing pin stop plate come off and the pin still stuck in there! That was odd. Anyway just put a dummy round in each mag and a snap cap in the gun. Watch out if it is a .45 though, slowly take out the snap cap otherwise your cap will get destroyed by the ejector. Likes to push on the primer part of the cap and shove it way deep into the cap. Watch out for letting the hammer fall to half cock though! Fast way to destroy a perfectly good sear. Other than that just be safe and practice practice practice! 1911's will love you if you take care of them!
  17. I think the high score will have to go to Todd here at arnold. Shot a .89 DT. That was fast! I turned around to see who was shooting and it was done. Lots of jaws fell off here. Way to go Todd!
  18. Same thing happend to my stepfather at the fall classic.Running through a swingin el prez and last shot on first string peice of .45 lands in his glasses against his cheek. While this is happening he for got he had to run through it again.Reload, kept going, did horrible on that stage. 3rd for me Same match i had something happen.Ran my first 6 stages great.I mean you could not wish for a better day (First big match).Last shot of 6th stage my rear sight flys off.Used a buddys gun to finish match.Didn't go to well. Illinois sectional same year.First stage bout halfway through i notice my rear sight doesn't look quite right but can't put my finger on it.(Fast moving). When i get done i look and hlak my sight cracked and broke off.(i don't have the best of luck with sights, no problems since then though.) 19. 1.yes 2.yes 3.no Everything is fair game to me but follow the rule book and stay inside the lines.
  20. Lee this explains everything i am thinking right now. Just because I can "game" a stage does'nt mean i'm breaking the rules. IPSC/USPSA is meant to be freestyle and that is part of the sport that I love. Quote I often find myself thinking something like "Cool! That's a neat way to shoot the stage. I wish I'd thought of holding the poker chips in my buttcrack." (Followed by "Man, I'm glad I already shot this stage.") I love this. Darn funny. Quote How do you figure shooting through a picket fence that you know is supposed to be a hard barrier, but is not described that way in the description, is shooting according to the rules? Lee, lots of people "game" stages. Missouri Fall Classic 2006, there was a stage where there was a wall that had the top 3/4 solid and the bottom was snow fence. I saw Dave Sevigny walk up and the first thing he said was, "can i shoot under that?" Yet nobody complains about him. Only the lower class people are criticized. That angers me.
  21. Z-man is a perfect example of good. After a year of shooting he is a master class production shooter. He is a good friend of mine and i asked him how he did it once. His answer was this, "1 hour of draw practice and 1 hour of reload practice every day." I think if we all follow this guideline we would all be excellent shooters. But first we need the will to be great.
  22. There was a stage like that at the Fall Classic last year. I just grabbed up two mags and stuck them in the pouches and then put one in the gun. (Needed two mags, L10 division). As to how that worked out, i will never know. My sights came off earlier in the match and a buddy let me borrow his other gun he happened to have with him. That stage the gun jammed and i had a dnf. What i would do is get the minimum amount of mags you need and then grab an extra just in case. After all the extra stuff is done, focus on the shooting and your hits.
  23. depends on what you call good. I call good high c or better. But that is relative to me. I do not know what i am as i am waiting for my classification to be determined still. ( one more classifier). I could either be low c or high d.
