What could be the cause of recent stove pipe issues.

I have a new 6" STI that has run 100% for the 6 matches I shot before this weekend (it only has about 1200 rounds through it). I even took to the 2009 Area 1 championship in Parma with not so much as a hiccup for the whole weekend.

I was shooting the NW Challenge at Custer this weekend at the Staff match, and I had 5 stove pipes across 4 different stages. The ammo I used was all the same stuff used at Area 1 it made power factor, and I have not done anything to it (the gun or ammo) since that match. All the ammo was case gauged and fit, and the only thing done to the gun was cleaning it?

Any ideas?

Check the extractor tension. Stovepipes are usually an indication that the extractor is losing control of the case before the latter hits the ejector.

Clean, oil, extractor tension, extractor fit..

Make sure you don"t have any carbon build up under the extractor hook or in the extractor channel.

If the ejector is not broken, check the extractor tension.

IMHO I have had this happen before, went to a commander style ejectors. But, always check for carbon build up.
