Rem 1100 disassembly

How is the bolt/carrier removed from this shotgun. I need to clean and lube, but can't figure out how to do the takedown.

After removing the fore end the barrel, the O-ring, gas rings, and pulling the bolt handle out, stick your finger in through the loading gate from underneath the receiver and feel along the inside of the receiver. There's a bent tab that sticks out slightly. Push it in against the inside wall of the receiver as you slide the bolt/carrier forward and out of the receiver. The bolt then just lifts off the carrier.

Reassembly is pretty much the reverse. Make sure the gaps in the two gas rings are not aligned when you put it back together.

Watch where you poke inside a 1100 receiver some edges are razor sharp.

Its the tang on the feed latch that you depress.

And YES the rails in an 1100 where the action bar runs...can be razor sharp

I'd definitely ask Jim. He even knows how to disassemble an 1100 at the end of a stage just to show clear!

Thanks for the help. I learned about the sharp edges inside the receiver ther hard way. Got it cleaned out and oiled up. I've run about 10,000 round through this 1100 over 10 years. Works as good as those overpriced Bennelli's, and for half the price.
