csholtmeier
Thinking about purchasing an Para LDA(18.9). Would shooting a DA 1911-style gun actually help with SA trigger control?
shred
Maybe.. the LDA trigger is very different from a 1911 trigger-- lots more reset and distance. That said, learning to shoot a DA trigger well can be good for SA trigger control too. There are a number of threads on DA/SA cross-training on here (I'll let somebody else search them out-- I'm on a slow link today)
Flexmoney
Learning and shooting different platforms can be educational and make you well rounded. Trying to jump back and forth between two different triggers can be trouble though. Plenty of dry-fire practice should take care of that.
csholtmeier
thanx for the response. thinking about the plain jane version not the "limited". want to set it up as close as possible to my .45. does anybody know if Para is planning on building a single stack 9mm LDA? Mike Dame
I was under the impression that Para was only selling the 9MM's to the military and police.
csholtmeier
i've shot two different 9mm LDA's. one was box stock other was heavily modified(sub 2 pound pull, bobbed hammer, beveled mag opening) capacity was something like 23 in a 140mm mag
bountyhunter
I also read the P18-9SR was going back into the "LEO Only" closet again.
bountyhunter
"does anybody know if Para is planning on building a single stack 9mm LDA?" I doubt it very much. BTW, I own a P1640 LDA LTD and I do like shooting it. That said, I think the works in Para guns are too flimsy for any serious shooting. The slide and barrel are beefy, the piece parts look like junk. If you want a nice 9mm single stack 1911 for Lim 10, how about an STI Trojan? BTW: the capacity on 9mm ss mags is only 9, so you would probably want to use the 10-round .38S mags.
Bill Schwab
does anybody know if Para is planning on building a single stack 9mm LDA? I e-mailed Para that very question a few months ago and they said they had no intention of making a SS 9mm LDA....too bad because it would be THE ticket for IDPA SSP (assuming you are used to a 1911). bountyhunter
Is it legal to shoot LIM 10 with a Para LDA 9mm double stack using 10 round mags? I have one of their 1640 LDA's and I like it better than the single stack size.
Duane Thomas
Well, yeah, but you'll be talking a DAO firing Minor up against single-action autos shooting Major.
