waynewal
Pact 3 Chrono (20+years old), new battery. This seemd to work fine a coupole of weeks ago, now.... Sun over right rear during shooting. about 3pm. Showed 1819 ~ fps on .45 200gr SWC loads with 5.8 gr W231. Was shooting up some older loads that had chronoed out at 925-950fps last week. tried moving screens around and blocking from direct sunlight. no avail... Still showing what is 2x the speed for the load. Wiggled the connectors at the box. once or 2x when wiggling the input plug, would get a loow fps reading. Turned it of and tried 3 separate times. Same results. Any ideas welcome! Thank you, Wayne W. Edited August 19, 2008 by waynewal

Chrono was working ok 2 weeks ago. Towards the end of the last session seemed squirrley, ie, reading low velocities. Figured it was the battery after two four hour sessions in the hot sun! Replaced battery before starting this days run. got the spurious readings. replaced battery again, and got same high velocities... Thanks for the reply! Sincerely, Wayne
slidelock1
Wayne, I had the same problem with my old Pact. I called the company and they asked me to return the unit plus the sky screen sensors. They fixed the problem. It turned out to be one of the sensors went south. Give them a call. They're great to deal with.
herky
Make sure the wires are not crossed, have had some interesting readings when that happened with my MKIII.
fred fague
When setting up your crono, be sure to set the head (readout) off to the side so that you are not shooting over it. The concussion can give you bad readings. I set mine off to the side about four foot from where I am standing.
