Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Wow Lots of replies- thanks very much for the guidance; Cy, noylj, Kahai808, and onebadeye. Will try more powder, then the different lengths. The MG 124 grain jus seems a little 'long in the tooth' when seated even to 1.10" Thank you, Wayne
  2. Experimenting with Hodgdon Titegroup, a Glock 34, Montan Gold JHP. Running 4.1 grains with an OAL of 1.10". Getting an occasional failure to eject. Haas been suggested to me to shorten up the 124 gr MG OAL to 1.00" Seems a bit short compared to other loading data. Has anyone worked with an ogive measurment on this bullet with a reliable OAL? Have looked at going 4.2 grains Titegroup rather than go shorter, and maybe add a little crimp. Any input? Thanks! Wayne
  3. If you're reloading Glock-fired brass and then shooting it in a Glock it makes no difference, but it makes a big difference in something with a tight chamber. The idea that Glock barrels are unsupported is 100% false. They're supported roughly as much as any other ramped barrel out there, but the chamber mouth is slightly larger, which allows the case to expand a small amount more. It will still prevent a case failure/rupture just like any other supported barrel, which is all that the supported area does aside from smoother feeding. The Lee FCD is considered by many expert reloaders to be a BAD idea. It squeezes the entire case, which can actually reduce bullet pull (neck tension) since it squeezes below the bullet and that can lead to bullet setback, less consistent velocity, etc, etc, etc. It does a decent job of hiding problems, but it really doesn't fix them. For cases that have been fired in larger chambers a U-die combined with a good seating die (nothing tops the Redding Comp Seating die) and good taper crimp die is the only real way to get rid of the problem and not hide it. I've added a shell holders cut down to get the very last little bit of the case above the extractor groove, but that's going above and beyond. R, Thanks! I have 2 sets of bras about 1/2 fired from a Glock 22 and 1/2 from a HK Compact. Will run them thru the Dillon sizer and see how they turn out. If needed will try the Lee die after for any not SAMMI sizing... Thanks! Wayne
  4. Thanks! I just got the egw dies. they are Lee dies. I will try to run 100 or so brass thru the Dillon dies and then run them thru the SAMMI size checker. Got the .38 super as well and will run all the 'non' sAMMI brass thru the Lee die and see if they are 'fixed'. Thanks very much to all! Wayne
  5. Gun: Colt 70 Jim Clark .38 super with fully supported bbl 124 gr MG CMJ WSR primer 1.240 OAL 8.22 gr 4756 New Starline brass PF was about 171 clocked at last major match with a CED chrono on a sunny day (in shade) with 78 degrees, 43% humidity, about 685 ft MSL or 8.42 gr 4756 wilth all same except OAL which is 1.255
  6. Will do! And I agree, if we add even 1 new shooter I think it would be well worth the effort. Don't want this to come out the wrong way... but what about doing a 'High LEO' ? Recognize that their use of firearms is a small part of what they do, and tell them! Maybe incorporate 'felony stop' into a stage, or 'hostage scenarios'. I realize the USPS rules may inhibit some of that, but there can be side shoots? Some may take it as an insult, but make sure they know it is not! When i get to participate in LEO training due to my job, and do well, I make sure the officers know i spend a lot of time on the side shooting. Just like fishing, bowling, etc, when you take it on as an avocation, you get very good... Just a thought! Wayne
  7. Thank you for the details, and yes, I always chrono. Glocks are a bit toughr than Sigs! Thanks! Wayne
  8. 4.8/5.0 grains of N-330 or 5.3/5.5 grains WSF under 115 JHP's are accurate as my guns are capable of. I use the lighter versions with copper jacketed bullets and a bit more under Montana Golds....for whatever reason, the MG's seem to like a little more zip. Both loads are pleasant to shoot and should cycle your slide just fine with whatever spring weight you're running. Wow, another powder. Hope I can use it all up! Thanks, Will try it!@ Wayne
  9. 115s I use WST about 4.5 - 4.6gr 124, 125s I use WST 4.0 - 4.3gr the same range with W231 MJ thanks! I will have to get some WST and try that! Wayne
