New Shorty Shotgun

Ok, I admit that I still want a short 37 or one of the cute 2-shot 870, but...when you can have an abomination like this one, why start small? Eight inches should be enough, right?

:)

This is a Tromix S17; it started as a Saiga 12 and had the gas system shorted down to the level of "piston? We don't need no stinkin' piston", trigger group relocated to the AK postion and tuned, optics rail removed, all the "extra" holes welded up, side folding stock fitted, new charging handle, Polychoke threaded on, and J-point red dot sight mounted.

It likes my favorite 3 1/4 7 1/2 Winchester loads, makes really neat fireballs with max dram 1 1/8 slugs, and seems to handled everything else I had on the shelves with aplomb.

That really needs a 20 round drum for true abomination status.

You should get a pic of the muzzle flash and put it up on the muzzle flash thread.

That is one mean looking little gun. Have fun with it!

is it just for lookin' at or does it suit a good useable function??????????????????????????????

It does look pretty cool, Alex.

It is for, uh, making big fireballs :)

Running across the test range in my backyard (four 1/4 springy MGM poppers), I noticed that I swing past targets a bit...must be the foot of barrel that is missing :) The Polychoke seems to work just fine...I dialed it down to a minipopper-sized pattern and still have a few clicks to go.

I'm curious to see what the 100-yard slug groups look like, too. I had a fairly steady stream of customers at my range so I couldn't try today...maybe tomorrow.

The stock is a Tromix.

And I already have a 20-round drum for it  To reach true abomination status, though, I need to figure out how to rig the folding bayonet...

Is that the ultimate CQB shotgun or what? I would hate to face that kind of firepower and just plain old loudness in ANY CONFINED AREA. (You would be yelling too after clearing a house with that thing!)

I know an old guy who used to work as an agriculture specialist in several foreign countries, I will have to tell him about that as he used to carry a model '97 back in the day. He will be tickled!

My range is 150 yards behind my house. I have a single bay for running CHL courses, test firing customer's guns, and for folks to try out guns before they buy. I got a 07 FFL a while back, and have been a NRA instructor and CHL instructor for a decade or so.

Not much of a range, as far as real ranges go...I have that row of mini poppers, a row of various self-reseting .22 targets, enough target stands/barrels/walls to run the IDPA classifier and a few of the USPSA classifiers, and need to road trip up to MN in order to get a Star (so I will have a plate rack :D ).
