mike cyrwus
Did some chrono testing last Friday. Accuracy was more than acceptable with all loads; my M&P9 has a great trigger on it and the M&P9 Pro only got a quick polish; so I cannot comment about accuracy; yet. The synopsis: The Pro has about 15-40fps higher velocities; the felt recoil was noticably less with the Pro; no loads were snappy with the pro and the sight fell on paper faster. Also, for a seat of the pants comparison for defense ammo recoil, I put about 5 rounds of Federal 147gr HST through each of them. The 4.25" barrel was much flippier than the Pro. Once I do a full trigger on the Pro; Ill bench them and shoot groups. -enjoy. revchuck
That's about what I'd expect for an additional 3/4" of barrel. I just chronoed some Blazer 115 grain yesterday from my CZ-75B. It went 1161/40/12. Just the difference among lots.
Kevin Kline
When I chrono'd w/ my 9L, I shot 147 jacketed, 1.160 OAL, 3.5-3.6grs TG through the 9L, MP9, and MP9 w/ Storm Lake barrel. The 9L was in the 935-940 fps range. The MP9 was in the 885-890 fps range. The MP9 w/ Storm Lake barrel was in the 910-919 fps range. The 9L had a good 45 fps difference and the accuracy was better. The little extra barrel and sight radius makes a difference.
mike cyrwus
Kevin, check your ammo and see that theyre not dragging in the magazine; 1.16 seems kinda long. I had my .40 at 1.16 and they were getting too much friction from the mags and Id get occasional mag burps.
revchuck
Mike - FWIW, SAAMI max OAL for 9x19 is 1.169". It's shorter (1.13"?) for .40 S&W due to the wider bullets; I guess they tend to drag on the mag when loaded longer.
jhe888
I'd be very interested to hear your subjective evaluation of the differences. More stuff like your description of the difference in feel of recoil. Is it easier to shoot more accurately on the course, regardless of any difference in inherent accuracy? Does it handle noticeably differently?

I know, but length is length, and if Im not smokin crack, the 9mm and 40 mag bodies are the same. I better go check so I dont look like an idiot. Kevin Kline
Mike, you wouldnt look like that no matter what your answers/observation was, everyone overlooks stuff and this is an informational forum, so learning is trick here. Ive loaded my rounds to 1.160 since Feb and they have been flawless. I got that length from my buddy Jeff D. I ve also loaded my rounds to 1.180 w/ 100% function, Daniel Cook loads his to 1.185 w/ great reliability. When I measured the inside of my mags, I think I came up w/ something like 1.190 or 1.195, but it has been a while since I measured them.
Dang It Dan
Hello All, I am having a tough time locating a Pro, but did run into a 9L just last weekend. I was wondering was the extra money worth holding out for a Pro? Thanks. Dan
cztn
Dang it dan, was wondering where you saw the 9L? I think I would rather try the 9L and tune it to my liking.

At a gun show in Lakeland, Florida. One of the really big distributors had it on the table at $699.00. A little too high for me, but you might try Bud's Gun Shop.
