Ted Murphy
Hello, Does anyone know of a source for a non metallic guide rod for a 1911? Thanks, Ted
chirpy
Are you talking "full length" or standard military type. Para's come with the standard in plastic but I have never heard of a plastic "full length". Richard
zhunter
When I was trying to get my Caspian Single Stack to make weight, we (Derek of Millennium Custom ) looked at trying a DELRIN guide rod. So they are out there. Good luck Edited to correct the spelling thanks to Chris Keen Edited May 20, 2008 by zhunter
Chris Keen
It's spelled DELRIN Z. I know because I use one in my LTD gun.
chirpy
Chris, where did you get yours (or you gunsmith or whomever had the gun before you)? Richard PS: Ted, Para also uses a plastic mainspring housing. You may need to change it out. I don't know how well they hold up!

Flatland Shooter
Chris, where did you get yours (or you gunsmith or whomever had the gun before you)? Right at a month ago I had the same question. Eric Nielsen was kind enough to supply the following via PM. Thanks Eric. No one sells them out of inventory now but Rusty Kidd will make you a (black) polymer guide rod, here is his contact info: David's Gun Room 5074 Buford Highway • Norcross, GA 30071 • (770) 447-6021 He had me measure the inside diameter of my spring plug & after about a week or 2 and 45 bucks later i had my Open gun's guide rod. He makes it a little bit long on purpose but it's easy to cut back or grind an angle on it if you like.
