B.J. Norris
OK, so I'm not quite Phil Strader, but I'm gettin there. Dry-firing last night I finally caught the mag falling out of the gun at my knee with 4 dummy rounds in it, with the new mag seated in the gun fully. That's really something to put you in a good mood.
Loves2Shoot
Cool, now how is that gonna help your shooting?

grassy knoll
since the first video of JJ doing it, i wonder how many wasted hours of dry firing time was done trying to perform this feat?

Steve Anderson
Somthing about BJ being about 3 ft tall makes me think he has an advantage here... Less gravity or something... SA
gmshtr
"Wasting time dry-firing???" Is there such a thing? Hell, it would work in IDPA, right? Reload w/ retention or something like that....
gmshtr
By the way, BJ....Good Job. That's hard to do with a Glock! Remember me when you win your first National Championship. Phil (mere mortal)
Matthew_Mink
I hope there is not a stage at Factory Gun that requires this, BJ is gonna have a head start.
Larry White
If you could do every time you could dry fire bare footed, what do you do with the mag after you catch it?
JLJ
Was "practicing" (more like doing anything but work) with Phil today before his match and finally caught the mag out of my Glock with him in the same room. Then went to his match and shot poorly. But I didn't drop a reload. Even did and extra one. Haha JLJ
TDean
I did the trick about two weeks ago. It was about the 15th attempt, and I snagged that sucker about a foot off the ground. I was excited! The down side was that it took me another 15 reloads to get my correct form back. That crap ain't for matches. Although it brings new hope in gaming IDPA reloads. Matthew_Mink
OH MAN!! I can't WAIT to do that at IDPA Nats!!! What are you guys doing exactly? Doing a mag change and catching the ejected mag in the air with your weak hand?
Carlos
BTW, BJ won it in Production. Pre-lim results are up at www.shootersparadise.com - all this by a junior who did not win the match using his new "catch the mag" trick (which is WAY more tactical, I'm sure!). Congrats BJ!! Good shooting, a sound plan & smooth movement paid off.

Stratochief
That's pretty dern impressive to say the least, it would be even more impressive if someone could do it with a revolver and moonclips.
