um, if you load 11 and strip 1, there are only 10 rounds loaded in the magazine. The rule reads that only 10 rounds may be loaded in the magazine. so if you load 10, strip 1 the RO (even Amidon himself) can ask to see the mag and only 10 rounds are in the mag so it should be permited per the rule.

This was covered at a RO school recently. Picky, but having 11 rounds in the mag., inserting it in the gun is a violation, per Amidon. You can never have 11 rounds in a mag. ever, never, ever!!!! BS I know, but that is there thinking.

Not “topping off”, you take ANOTHER mag and insert it and strip the first round, then take THAT mag out and insert a fully loaded one giving you 11. Most guys put the mag that now has 9 in it in their back pocket so they don’t inadvertently reload with it during the stage.

...or they top off. ;)

The rule is...10 rounds in the mag. One in the pipe is fine (10+1).

If you do decide to simply top off your feeder mag...make sure to do it with the loaded gun on safe AND in the holster. (We had a new shooter that wanted to tuck his blaster under his arm-pit while he topped off his mag... )

I am a big fan of doing it the way R-n-G suggests.

Folks,

The best way to get your mind around the USPSA L10 "10 round rule" is to think:

"A maximum of 10 rounds in all magazines at all times".

Remember the above and you'll never get spanked. Well, at least not for a mag infringement
