Holster for STI Edge?

What do you all recommend for a STI Edge with long dust cover, but won't scratch the blueing? I want the holster to secure the gun without worries while I'm picking up brass, fast on the draw, won't scratch the blue finish and economical. Thanks for your recommendations in advance.

A new looking gun is one that hasn't been shot..... Keeping a gun looking brand new with no scratches or loss of blueing has never been one of my goals.

You have a wide range of holsters to pick from, but all of them are going to take some of the finish off somewhere, with the exception maybe of a Ghost style holster in which case they're not very economical.

The search function is your friend. ;)

And welcome to the forums.

You ask for 3 things. You really need to pick any two.

I don't think such a beast exists. The most economical, secure, fast holster around is probably the Blade-Tech dropped and offset (DOH), but it will definitely wear the finish if it's not hard chromed/Ion Bonded etc.

Some other models out there are CR Speed, Ghost, Safariland 012, USA Extreme, Limcat and Guga Ribas. None of those should won't wear the finish too bad, but they're not for everyone or they're very expensive. The least expensive of the bunch is the USA Extreme at around $110, but that's the kind that is nothing more than a trigger block and the muzzle is out in the breeze. That's not a bad thing, but it bothers some people. Next up in price is probably the Ghost at around $130ish and again, it's the kind where the muzzle is exposed. Then you jump to around $150 for the CR Speed or Safariland...both have muzzle platforms but still aren't going to be as secure as something like the DOH. From there you jump up to around $170 for the Limcat and $220 for the Guga Ribas, both of which leave the muzzle exposed, being of the trigger block type.

For my money I've got two Guga Ribas and have never had the gun come out by accident, but I know they aren't for everyone.

Honestly, for a competition gun, you might be better off getting a finish on it that's more durable, or don't worry about it. I've never had a competition gun that was worth a darn that stayed pretty long....scratches, dings and rubs are badges of honor on a match gun!!!

Heck, he asked for 4 things....secure, fast, non-marring and economical :surprise: I'd love to market that holster when someone develops it!

Thanks everyone. I have a BladeTech for another gun and love it, but it does do a number on the finish.

I also have a STI compensated gun that I just finished and discovered that I don't have a holster for it!!!!http://www.brianenos.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif

So it sounds like Santa is going to bring me a Ribas so that I can use it for both guns. (Not at the same time, unless that's how baby STI's are formed.http://www.brianenos.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/cheers.gif

If you want a Ribas, jump on it fast....last I knew SSI only had about five left and they take a long time to come in once he orders them. R,

I have a Ribas for my Edge and it scratches the crap out of the dust cover but I don't care, wouldn't want to use anything else.

Can any of these holsters be used for multiple platforms such as Glock and CZ?

I have been able to run a HK USP 45, Glock 35, Les Baer TRS, BarSto .40(STI Edge with long dust cover),

S&W PC952, S&W M&P 9mm, out of my Safariland 561. It comes with some hardware that allows you to

adjust the holster to fit MANY different guns.

  • 4 weeks later...

I have a Limcat that I've used in the past. A BIG +100 to what everyone says about them not being for everyone. It is a very odd feeling having all that gun just waving around out there. Noobs at the range LOVE it though :surprise: With the lock on, it's solid as a rock though. I used it with my airsoft gun to get comfy with it and now I love it.
