carinab
My father-in-law (a jarhead) forwarded this great idea to me and I thought to post it in the benoverse: When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following: A Recovering American soldier c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue,NW Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

hitman
I dont send X-mas cards but I do send out CHRISTMAS cards. I will add several more for Walter Reed along with the ones going to the sand box. Thanks for the thought.
Paul Santiago
This is a very noble effort and great gesture.... BUT... Do NOT waste your time and efforts. Walter Reed will not accept ANY mail that is sent to an unspecified person for security reasons. My family and I sent over a hundred last year to this same address and got a letter back thanking me for caring and explained why they could not be delivered. Over the next several months the cards were all returned unopened. There are other ways and organizations that can get cards to the troops. I don't have the information handy but I will get it and post it here if you'd like.

carinab
Bummer....I mean really...I wouldn't be surprised if the policy is because of some evil idiots that sent something really tasteless and cruel. I guess they can't open and verify every card. Here's an alternate....AnySoldier.com

bruce282
http://www.redcross.org/flash/leadership/c...tosoldiers.html You can now send the cards to the Red Cross, and they will take them to local hospials such as Walter Reed and Bethesda Navel.
