Shot at the Prado Pistol Range (~800 ft. elev.) and it was in the mid-70's today. twice-fired mixed brass, WSF 6.7 gr., OAL ~1.145 (10 shot string, practice ammo) HI 1348.0 fps LO 1285.1 fps SD 20.6 fps ES 62.9 fps AVG 1320.7 fps PF 164 once-fired mixed brass, N340 6.8 gr., OAL ~1.145 (5 shot string, match ammo) HI 1397.8 fps LO 1360.8 fps SD 13.1 fps ES 36.9 fps AVG 1379.0 fps PF 171 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

MG 124's, once-fired Speer brass, WSF 4.8 gr., OAL ~1.145 (this is my production minor load to make sure chrono was working, 10-shot strings) HI 1089.9 fps LO 1055.0 fps SD 13.0 fps ES 34.9 fps AVG 1069.3 fps PF 132.6 I loaded up all the 4756 loads with MG 121 IFP bullets, once-fired Speer brass, OAL~1.145" SR-4756 6.0 gr. HI 1113.8 fps LO 1081.8 fps SD 12.0 fps ES 32.0 fps AVG 1099.0 fps PF 133.0 SR-4756 6.3 gr. HI 1185.7 fps LO 1141.4 fps SD 16.1 fps ES 44.4 fps AVG 1154.8 fps PF 139.7 SR-4756 6.6 gr. HI 1216.2 fps LO 1197.4 fps SD 8.1 fps ES 18.8 fps AVG 1206.8 fps PF 146.0 Dot barely moved with the SR-4756 6.0 grain load. Less dot movement that the WSF minor load. Started to get snappier for me anyways as I worked up with 4756. I think I am going to run 6.0gr. for minor loads. I load montana gold 124gr JHPs to 173pf using small rifle primers and see zero pressure signs or unburnt powder. I have been loading super for 3+ years now and have loaded silhouette, HS6, IMR7625, N350, and 3N38. Seems to me that the silhouette is the best choice for pricing, availability, and performance. I run between 6.9 and 7.2 of WSF depending on the time of year. N340 is cleaner, but WSF feels softer on my hands, not as snappy as N340. N340 seems to flatten the primers more than WSF also. matt2ace Posted May 31, 2008 Share Posted May 31, 2008 I had a typo in the above post, the WSF load was 6.8, not 7.8.Also, wanted to report that the Silhoutte load that I was shooting is leaving unburnt powder in my chamber and at the comp. I am not going to shoot silhoutte anymore and will just stick with WSF. This is not the first comment I have seen on residues with Silhouette. I am shooting it now at 7.8gr to make a 170PF in 9mm and, atleast with my gun, I don't have any signs of residue buildup in the gun. Maybe the configuration of my gun has something to do with the lack of residue. The powder is very nice to laod with, the higher density keeps the cases ~3.4 full which works better with my 550 (less spillage). The powder also exhibits some of the most consistent, low standard deviation numbers, even with mixed, once-fired cases. You sure saved me the trouble of figuring out my first SJC gun major and 9mm load. The MG 121 IFPs, WSF (I use 7.0gr), and OAL has nice recoil management, PF, and doesn't have powder overflow problems. As a side note, I was surprised by just how little space there is available for my powder and bullets when loading 9mm...let's just say that my first few attempts loading on my recently purchased 550 involved powder spilling all over the place . No problem, glad it's working out for you. Looks like your rocking the open glock pretty well. BTW, I don't run an oversized mag release on my SJC, just the 34 extended version.
