Conqueror
Hi all, new poster but longtime lurker here. Anyway, I decided it was high time I made myself some proper dryfire training videos, and I figured I'd host them and post them for everyone else to use. These are simple video files which have a blank white screen, and occasionally a target will appear for a few seconds. Each one will be different from the others in various ways (using smaller or larger targets, targets visible for more or less time, more or less time between targets, etc). I'll also be making some "driving" videos, where the targets appear consecutively around the screen in rapid-fire manner, so folks can practice driving the gun from target to target in a speedy fashion. If you view these on a fancy monitor they will appear somewhat low-quality, but I'm actually making them to match the screen dimensions and resolution of a television - the idea is to burn them onto a DVD or VCD and play them on a DVD player. If your DVD player won't handle it, you can do it on the computer screen too. I'll edit this post to add each subsequent video I make; for now here's the first installation: Video 1: Draw and fire http://www.box.net/shared/c1ssy7804l Video 2: Gun driving http://www.box.net/shared/jbkv6azi8i Video 3, now with IPSC targets!: Draw and controlled pair http://www.box.net/shared/xzekbn1duq Video 4, now with sound!: Draw and controlled pair http://www.box.net/shared/68hfrfh9e3 Thanks, and DVC, CQ Edited May 31, 2007 by Conqueror
CSEMARTIN
This has potential. Why not use IDPA or USPSA targets?
Flatland Shooter
Very interesting. Looking forward to more. Thanks. Bill
Conqueror
This has potential. Why not use IDPA or USPSA targets? If anyone has a pre-drawn BMP or JPG of an IPSC target I'll be happy to use it, but I didn't have one and I didn't want to draw it with the wrong dimensions. Conqueror
Thanks, I'll use the IPSC target for future vids. I'll probably make a couple more videos tonight. CQ
Conqueror
Adding Video #3, with IPSC targets. CQ
taxlawmax
Pretty cool! I'll definitely give these a shot. Great idea.
Catfish
coolness - here's a suggestion - is it possible to have a "beep" right before the targets appear?? That would give the person using the video the same (or similar) auditory cue we get at the matches or practice. Neat stuff!
Conqueror
I've thought about doing that but I'm not 100% sure it's possible. I'll look into it but I can't make any promises. CQ
Conqueror
It worked! I couldn't get the exact sound of a timer, but I got an effect that's fairly close and should work well. Video 4 uploaded. CQ

rwmagnus
Conqueror Nicely done. Can you add the verbal commands... Shooter Ready, Stand By, Timer Beep. I'd love to see a plate rack of targets, then also a plate rack set with a par time! Thank you for the videos. Conqueror
Magnus - sorry, I cannot do the verbal commands with my limited software, only the beeps. I can try to do a plate rack; the difficulty will be fitting 6 reasonably-sized "plates" on a TV screen, which is only 640 pixels wide in resolution. I'll see what I can do this weekend sometime. Conqueror
That may work, I'll give it a try when I get the chance. I'm assuming you'd just like to see it pop up on screen in the same position every time? CQ

I'm assuming you'd just like to see it pop up on screen in the same position every time?CQ I think that's best. If possible have one that stays on the screen and a couple more with different par times similar to previous versions you posted. Bottom line is if the viewer is using a timer then par times can be set to the viewers skill level so having a plate rack that stays on the screen would be preferred. Thank you again for doing this. torrpd
Nice tool, if I had an over head projecter it would be even better. Thanks for the time and effort.
