Bear1142
The best version I ever heard was right after 9/11. It was the first NY Yankee's home ball game after 9/11. It was sung by an NYPD (I think) officer named Daniel Rodriguez. He sings opera as a Tenor (I think, again.) Anyway, he belted out absolutely the most impressive version I've ever heard. No music, nothing. Just him. On that night, not even Pavorotti could have touched this guy. During the performance there was a very small guy standing next to Rodriguez the entire time, apparently doing nothing, until the end of the song. At the end, he lifted his arm and the camara's focused on the stadium lights way up high. Out of nowhere, an American Bald Eagle launched out of the rafters and flew down to the field and landed on this guy's arm. It was the most emotional and moving things I've ever seen. It brought tears to my eyes. I wish I could find it so I could put it on my Ipod. It was simply awesome. Erik
