FayettevilleFatKid
Anybody know for sure if a Blade-Tech, offset drop, double speed cut holster would be legal for production USPSA, as long as it was placed by regulations? From best I can tell it should be, but... If the offset drop disqualifies it, what about a standard ride double speed cut?
Flexmoney
Not sure about that double cut speed part...there is a post on here somewhere that one of the big-dogs at the Production Nationals used the dropped and off-set.
Trey
From my read of the rules, it's legal. I was also recommended the Bladetech DOH by Matt from custom glock racing for ipsc production. He knows his stuff, so it's probably ok. I hope so, I plan on using mine for production as well.
David Olhasso
The Blade-Tech dropped & offset holster is LEGAL in Production division. The rules simply state that "race" holsters cannot be used. I use a standard dropped & offset holster with a speed cut which extends just below the ejection port. In my opinion, any more of a cutout really won't buy you any speed on the draw. Flexmoney
David, Is there a version of that holster that is legal for IDPA? Seems like there was a blurb on some Blad-tech propoganda that had Ken Hackthorns approval. It appeared to be approval for just the dropped, not the offset (they were both on the same page though). David Olhasso
The Blade-Tech belt holster is perfectly legal for IDPA. I know of no version of the dropped & offset that is legal for a man.
Custom Glock Racing
I was told the DOH was NOT legal for US Production by USPSA because it violated the 50mm rule. I got one anyway and checked it myself. Not even close to 50mm away from the body using all the measuring methods listed in the rulebook. If you are unsure measure it on yourself. matt
twix
I have never really understood the 50mm thingie. Would anyone care to offer up a summation?
Singlestack
Hey David, Is the "speed cut" a stock option, or something you did yourself?
Nik Habicht
John, I don't know about Dave's holster, but the speed cut is stock from the factory on both the DOH and the belt holster. Basically, the front of the holster covers the slide from the muzzle to just below the ejection port. It allows you to pivot the gun up a little sooner on the draw. David Olhasso
The speed cut is pretty much a standard option on a Blade-Tech DOH. Of course they will build your holster any way you like.
Custom Glock Racing
50mm Rule see rule 5.3 Holsters and Equip. For some reason when I paste it here its all gibberish. (Edited by Custom Glock Racing at 10:00 am on Sep. 3, 2002)
FayettevilleFatKid
The double speed cut is an option on Blade Tech holsters. The standard speed cut is at the front of the ejection port and the "double" option extends it toward the muzzle by approximately the same distance(~1") again.
