Tactical Or Limited Class

All: For either the tactical or limited classes in 3 gun, a person is limited to the number of optics or the muzzle brake I recall. If one wanted to modify the magazine release to make it more accessible would that be a prohibited modification?

Modify the mag release all you want. Shouldn't be a problem in any USPSA Division and nothing against it that I've seen in any IMGA matches.

Not sure at all about IPSC, but most IMG rules state something to the tune of "factory configuration" for Tactical or Limited. Technically, a mod of any kind is not factory configuration, unless it is available from the factory.

So to answer your question, you need to look into it closely, least you find yourself shooting Open. (which ain't a terrible place, really!)

My experience is that the "factory configuration" rules are VERY loosely interpreted. If you have an AR15 that otherwise complies with the rules (number of optics, no bipod, 1"x3 comp) you should be fine.

Yes, you can do the mod you are talking about.......look at the rule, it states "5.3 For purposes of this ruling, a “firearm” consists of a specific caliber, receiver, barrel, and stock and sighting system combination."

after that.....you can pretty much do anything.....noting ofcourse, the sighting system stated in the other part of the rules
