Shmella
anyone notice when using an offset mount that at farther distances the point of impact would be off horizontally? say you zeroed at 18 yards wouldnt your hits stray off to the left out at say 50 yards? just throwing random yardages not doing any calculations here, but i would think the further out you go the more it would be off horizontally. I have an offset cheely mount, havent tested my theory though.
BeerBaron
I guess that would make sense as it's the same bore displacement issue you have when the dot is 1.5inch above the bore with a normal upright mount. personally I like my mount centered anyway. I think if you have ejection issues there are better ways to fix then than moving the mount further to one side.
Blackhawk
This has changed my understanding sighting in... I always used a 25yd approach but now I'll try the 15yd version and see what happens...
sclagg
Great info... appreciate the responses! We've been using 15 yards for a while.. going to stick to that.
MrPostman
20 yards with a Horizontal Cmore and 6 minute dot. I use the ballistic calculator at handloads.com to figure out what is the best zero depending on sight height, bullet weight, velocity and average atmospheric conditions. Very useful for rifle and useful for pistol as well.
