Esp Caliber Question.....

Well, the rule says (pg 22) ESP Permitted Modification 3. Internal accuracy work (includes replacement of the barrel with one of factory configuration...

Most times that will be taken to mean that "factory configuration" means external configuration and the gun will be allowed in ESP.

Personally, I think that "configuration" includes the hole down the middle and that it is not a permissable modification by the strict letter of the rule, but I will not be such a nitpicker as to not let you shoot it, there being no advantage gained except to let you shoot cheaper ammo.

Jim and JoeD, thanks for the responses. I went back through the rule book and picked this up:

Permitted modifications (SSP) page 20, item 6

6. Internal accuracy may be worked to include replacement of bsrrel with one of factory configuration and original caliber.

Permitted modifications (ESP) page 22, item 3

3. Internal accuracy work (includes: replacement of the barrel with one of factory configuration, the use of Accu-Rails, the use of Briley Bushings).

No mention of caliber, so I would think the change is permitted.

Thanks,

Rik
