D.Hayden
I opened a new thread, rather than post more on: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37074 Before I buy Tripp Mags or McCormicks.. Anyone try the MecGar mags? Like these: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/19108rdblman.html Since I'm really cheap, the price seems good (just add some base pads). Does it matter 40 or 10MM mags? Tripp seems to use the same, MecGar are different? MarkS_A18138
I have shot Double-tap, Space City and Area3 and a least 20 club matches this year with ZERO mag problems using both Tripp and Shooting Star. I will tell you, put more than 8 rounds in the tripp and you will start seeing some funny things. But in competition they work fine at 8 rounds!!!!! I have 8 shooting star and 6 tripp don't buy any others. 40 SS kimber!
mscott
I probably have about 8 MecGar mags for my Springfield in .40 and they are all great. I bought a few Metalform and got 1 good one of the 6 I bought. The CDNN price isn't too bad. I think they were $16 locally, but that was for the nickle plated ones. I'd check around a bit. The .40 mags have a small spacer in the back for the shorter cartridges where the 10mm doesn't. For what it's worth, my SA runs just as well on .45 mags. D.Hayden
Thanks - MecGar.. that's what I want to hear - nice and cheap I had read people were using 45 mags right out of the box - I tried a McCormick and a Wilson Mag... feeding reliability was about 10%
Joe D
My .40 Kimber feeds flawlessly from the Wilson .45 mags. Metal Form 10mm mags work well also. You can improve the feeding with a Kimber by grinding a little more "slope" into the feed ramp. The Kimber ramp has a little bit of a hump to it. The Kart profile works much better. PaulW
Metal form works great in my Trojan. Just added base pads and they are awesome. Eric Stanley uses Wilson 47D's in his Springfield .40, they seem to work perfect for him. In my Trojan they don't seem to work quite as well, close but not as well as the Metal Forms. Mick
I have a Colt Delta Elite with a P/C ramped Schuemann .40 bushing barrel in it. I was using Chip's 9 round 10 mm mags before the barrel change so I kept using them. They feed anything from short factory ammo @ 1.125" to 1.200" IPSC stuff without problems. I have 2 of the 10 round 10mm mags but they are not reliable... Mick
MarkS_A18138
Just a quick note! All my mags are the 10mm mags so I can shoot my long rounds. I wish my 3 mec-gar mags ran for me!
