JD45 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 (edited) There is some talk going around that Hodgdon is no longer going to produce HS7. Someone also mentioned H4227 being phased out. If it is true, some people might like to stock up. Edited February 23, 2006 by JD45
open17 Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Not a rumor on the HS-7. I was told by Hodgdon about 5 months ago that it was no longer being produced, and that they had a "one year supply" left. Longshot was their suggestion as a replacement.
Tom Balko Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Word, as I heard it, from a retailer is that not only HS7, but HS6 as well.
DougCarden Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 Well, since it is repackaged Winchester powder that they dropped from their line it would make sense if they are almost out of it now and the demand is not there to make any more (according to their accountants.... ) That is too bad.....

Hey Tom- You got me nervous there so I called Hodgdon to double check. They are NOT going to discontinue HS-6. HS-7 is already discontinued and we are simply depleating what Hodgdon and everyone else has in stock.
blackdragon Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Since the PF has dropped shoot HS-6. Been shooting HS-7 for 10 years or better. Ivan
Harmon Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 HS6 is GOod stuff. If they could just make it burn cleaner....heaven.
Tom Balko Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 Glad you followed up on it Kirk! Sorry to give you case of the jitters. I went through the same thing when SP2 dried up. Fortunately, your episode ended on a happier note
.40AET Posted February 27, 2006 Posted February 27, 2006 Tom- No worries. I was glad to hear that Hodgdon is going to keep producing the powder. I liked HS-7 alot, it made a lot of gas to work the comp. Oh well I picked up some Longshot to try in lieu of the HS-7. Happy loading
RifleShooter Posted May 16, 2006 Posted May 16, 2006 I have read several things about the status of HS-7. I was thinking about trying it, but I didn't want to start if I was not going to be able to get it any more. I emailed Hodgdon, and this is the response I got: It is true. HS-7 will be discontinued as soon as we run out of currentstock. This should occur later this year.
