Checking zero?

Today I showed up at a shoot and discovered that my RDS's zero is off. To make things worse this happens every so often. How often do people usually shoot to check their zero?

 

I'm shooting a CZ Shadow 2 OR with a Shield RMSx

It's not a bad idea to use your first 5-10 rounds of every range session to make sure it's hitting where it's supposed to.

I check the zero of my open race guns every 3 months at a dedicated range session.

If you have a quality scope, I’d say every 6 months.

Longtime GM and top shooter once told me "Start and end every practice shooting a group". 

 

That way you know the sights are on when you started and on when you are done so when you put it back in the bag to go to a match you'll have confidence it's going to be on there too.

I was told the same. In his book, Brian says he ended every session with groups

 

If your RDS loses zero and is not loose, it is likely defective.
