Cleaning a slide with a slide mounted optic

Not as quick and easy compared to iron sights where I just strip it down and toss the whole shebang into a bucket of solvent.

 

Any tips or tricks? 

 

I've tried masking off the red dot but that hasn't worked all that great.

I just clean it by hand, being careful not to slash the optic.

I keep the cover on my optic and just clean carefully too.

Same for my optic on a mount fixed to the frame of my open gun. I clean carefully by hand to avoid any chemical go onto the RD body or lens.

Thanks guys. That's what I've been doing. Didn't want to miss out if there was a clever way to do it other than that.

I need to get a better fitting cover for the optic.
