TheRob13
I have tried everything to get my 617 to not have misfires. Extended firing pins, springs, main spring and apex hammer. Is there a gunsmith anyone would recommend to tune this thing?
MWP
Has the gun’s action been smoothed out? If it has you just need to turn the gun up. You want all factory springs and firing pin. The Apex Hammer is good if you can’t shoot a gun with the spur on it, but it doesn’t do anything for the trigger weight. The “out of the box” solution for a 617 has long been a JM mainspring and Wolff 11lb rebound with either factory or Apex Hammer. That spring setup isn’t any different than bending a factory mainspring and flattening a factory rebound spring. After that the answer is to turn it up until it’s 100%. If it misfires turn it up more. Lots of 617s with people claiming 100% at 6.5-7lbs, but I haven’t seen one yet.

alecmc
Also, Dont expect the trigger weight to get down to what center fire revolvers can do. Just wont happen. They need alot more main spring pressure to function.
AzShooter
Try the new Apex Max Hammer for your 617. It helps get your action down a bit. They claim 6.5 pounds. Mine works that well with Federal BYOB but I have it set at 7.5 pounds so I can shoot just about anything. I do keep my mainspring as tight as possible. I have an 11 pound rebound spring and everything possible has been polished.
ysrracer
Mine's at 7 pounds and reliable with Armscor .22 ammo. Anything else, not so much.
