Davecambell
I am a shooter and in the natty guard. I need to get up to speed on how to make glocks competition ready
dapribek
Hi, old guy here too! On my 34s, I added tungsten guide rod, KKM stainless barrel, Apex extractor, Tungsten grip plug, grip tape, Dawson fiber optic adjustable sights, Lone Wolf locking block and an after market competition trigger. Vanek, Johnny Glock and Timney are all good choices. Hope this helps.
mlmiller1
I would toss out this idea.... glocks are competition ready from the get go. I've been competing for over 20 years & the number of stock glocks that had issues unrelated to poor ammo could be counted on 10 fingers. The number of glocks made competition ready with issues could fill a pickup bed. I am not picking on people modifying their glock but I am picking on them buying all kinds of fancy crap the latest greatest make your glock a race gun stuff & destroying the best thing about a glock & that is it's out of the box reliability & durability. I shot glocks from 1998 until about 2015 & I modified them slightly but always always 1 mod at a time & plenty of time at the range making certain it worked in my gun with my ammo. My last limited glock had an aftermarket barrel, modified stock trigger & fiber optic sights. I shot that gun for 12ish years with only a few spring changes. I am sure I had a jam or 2 but I don't remember having any. Shot barrel nearly smooth. Lol. Also stick with factory mags... I'm not telling you what to do just tossing out some ideas
Intheshaw1
All I've done to my 34.5 is add the Timney trigger and a tungsten guide rod and it's great. I also added some tungsten weight into the backstrap that added 1.5 oz and plan to pack the grip cavity with tungsten and do a silicon carbide grip job to it. Runnin2live
Welcome. I have to agree with mlmiller1, as you make that Glock more and more “Competition ready”, prep yourself for the issues. I have had and currently have a 34 open gun that now runs flawlessly. But it didn’t just happen. Tons of work and troubleshooting with each little change. my suggestion would be to start with a full drop in trigger to get the bounce and springy feeling out of it. adding weight to it isn’t a bad idea, just do one thing at a time and shoot, shoot and shoot some more
Cuz
For about $8 you can drop in a Wolff competition spring pack and call it good. Maybe spend another $20 on a 13-15 lb recoil spring. And, if you should encounter some light strikes you can spend another $8 on a striker spring kit and try the 4.5 lb striker spring, or the 5.0 lb one. For me, normally the 4.0 lb spring that comes in the competition pack works fine. For very little money you can be very competitive. Oh, wait, I forgot sights. Glock sights suck. Go with a set of Sevigney, Dawson, any of the others out there, or forget about sights and put a red dot on it.
